Some of these computer assemblers are now selling these legal CD's for Rs 100 - Rs 200 and hopefully will even learn to add in some local support component for people who are new to Ubuntu Linux. Maybe for another Rs 300 some of these local computer dealers will go and install the Ubuntu software on the computers and laptops, of home users / business users, and configure it for users so that they can use BSNL MTNL broadband Internet, and use printers that have good support for Linux printing.

Internet cafes will also soon start installing the server versions of Ubuntu and Kubuntu and they will then encourage customers to use Firefox browser and openoffice.org Office softwares for presentation, word documents, spreadsheets and databases.

The powerful suite of applications that Ubuntu and Kubuntu make available will soon find devoted followers.

The Google gmail email address has also begun to catch on in some of these small places and this will see people testing and using open formats of documents and spreadsheets, when they start collaborating online. One does hope that Small Businesses will be able to see that they can do most of their document creation work and email needs using public and free infrastructure, without the need for learning difficult to learn pirated software, that imprisons them down into specific document formats.

पिछले हफ़्ते क्लीनिक मे दो केस गोदेरेज हेऐर डाई से उत्पन्न allergic reactions के आये । एक तो श्रीमान यूसफ़ जो इस साल पाँचवी बार इसी समस्या को लेकर आये और एक और जो मुझे बाराबंकी से किसी चिकित्सक ने refer किया था । यूसफ़ का केस सरल था , हाँलाकि लाख समझाने के बावजूद उनको अबकी ईद पर जवान दिखने के मोह ने मुसीबत मे डाल दिया था । लेकिन जो केस बाराबंकी से आया था , उस जैसा तगडा डाई से उत्पन्न reaction मैने पहले कभी न देखा । मैने भी वही किया जो आम चिकित्सक इन परिस्थितयों मे करते हैं , पहले मेडिकल कालेज रिफ़र किया और जब वहाँ से भी कन्ट्रोल न हुआ तो उसे लखनऊ मे प्रसिद्द्ध त्वचा रोग विशेषज्ञ डा सुरेश तलवार के पास रिफ़र कर दिया । रोग की तीब्रता इतनी अधिक थी कि डां तलवार ने भी उसे संजय गाँधीं पी.जी.आई रिफ़र कर दिया ।

पुरषों मे डाई और महिलाओं मे कास्मेटिक का मोह आम देखा जा सकता है । डेली टेलीग्राफ़ की इस रिपोर्ट की सत्यता पर विशवास करें तो औसतन एक महिला दो किलो कास्मेटिक हर वर्ष प्रयोग करती है और इनमे से अधिकतर कास्मेटिक क्रीम और eyeshadow में कैन्सर उत्पन्न करने वाले तत्व पाये गये हैं । यही नही एक औसत महिला एक साल मे लगभग पाँच लिपस्टिक हजम कर जाती है । जरा नजर दौडायें इन कास्मेटिक  मे पाये जाने वाले रसायनों की तरफ़ :

parabens : पैराबैन औरतों मे हार्मोन मे असंतुलन पैदा करते हैं और breast cancer के लिये उत्तरदायी होते हैं ।

triclosan : यह मूलत: ऐटींबैक्टिरियल और कीटनशक दोनों ही है और प्रमुख प्रयोग होने वाली वस्तुऐं जैसे दाँत सफ़ करने के पेस्ट , body washes, साबुन मे पाया जाता है ।

Sodium laureth sulphate : अधिकतर soap gel  और शैम्पू मे पाया जाता है ।

Arsenic : eye shadows मे पाया जाने वाला प्रमुख हानिकारक तत्व ।

डां बैली हैमिलटन का मानना है कि जो तत्व हम oral route यानि मुँह से लेते हैं वह सीधे त्वचा मे मिलने वाले तत्वों की अपेक्षा कम हानिकारक होते हैं । क्योंकि ऐसे तत्व वमन के रुप मे हमारा शरीर बाहर फ़ेंक देता है लेकिन सीधे रक्त मे घुलने वाले तत्व बरसों तक संबधित organs जैसे किडनी और लीवर मे पडे रहते हैं और धीरे-२ अपना घातक असर दिखाते हैं ।

डाई  प्रयोग करने से सबसे अधिक खतरा पेशाब की थैली  (urinary bladder) के कैन्सर होने का है जो डाई न प्रयोग करने वालों मे कम पाया जाता है ।

THE average woman absorbs two kilograms of chemicals from cosmetics every year - from cancer-causing compounds in face cream to arsenic in eyeshadow.

A  typical woman's daily beauty regime may involve applying as many as 175 chemical compounds to their skin and hair.
Of course, the manufacturers would say these chemicals and resulting products are safe, but a growing school of thought begs to differ.

Cosmetics contain many different kinds of chemicals, but of particular concern are a group of preservatives called parabens, which by some estimates are found in 99 per cent of all 'leave on' cosmetics, and 77per cent of 'rinse off' cosmetics.
These are known hormone disruptors: evidence suggests they can mimic the female hormone oestrogen, and a lifetime of increased exposure to oestrogen is linked to a heightened risk of breast cancer.
One study found parabens present in 18 out of 20 breast cancer tissue samples (though it is important to note that the study did not prove they'd actually caused the breast cancer).
Parabens are also thought to adversely affect male reproductive functions.
Another troubling chemical is the antibacterial agent and pesticide triclosan, which is used in toothpastes, soaps, household cleaning products and body washes.
It belongs to the chlorophenol class of chemicals, which are suspected of causing cancer in humans and taken internally, even in small amounts, can cause cold sweats, circulatory problems and - in extreme cases - coma.
Also of concern are phthalates, a substance that gives our lotions that silky, creamy, texture, but which are also a 'plasticiser' used to make plastics flexible.
Certain phthalates are known carcinogens, and studies have suggested they damage the liver, kidneys, lungs and the reproductive system, as well as affecting the development of unborn baby boys.
The list goes on. Sodium laureth sulphate, a frequent ingredient in shower gels and shampoos, is a skin irritant; Propylene glycol, found in soap, blushers and make-up remover, has been shown in large quantities to depress the central nervous system to make it function less effectively, and aluminum in deodorants is linked to breast cancer by medical research.
And did you know that certain eye shadows contain arsenic?
One thing is for sure: few of us would want to rub any of these chemicals into our eyes, far less ingest them in liquids by drinking them.
Yet, every day, we rub them into our skin, and allow them to enter our bodies.
Given the facts, it's hardly surprising that a growing number of experts believe these substances have a cumulative effect on our bodies.
They think the 'chemical ########' inside us is contributing to the increased frequency of a host of illnesses ranging from eczema to cancers as well as developmental problems such as autism and dyslexia.
"It's difficult to see the link between chemicals in cosmetics and damage to health unless you stand back and look at the wider picture," Dr Paula Baillie-Hamilton, author of Toxic Overload, told The Daily Mail.
"Man-made chemicals first emerged 100 years ago, and every decade since, the overall production of these synthetic chemicals has doubled.
"We are surrounded by chemicals: in the air, in our food, in our water and especially in our cosmetics, and the fact is that our bodies can't break many of these substances down."
Dr Baillie-Hamilton also thinks that absorbing chemicals through our skin is more dangerous than swallowing them.
"At least if you ingest chemicals through your mouth, your digestive system can do something towards dealing with them," she says.
"If they go through your skin they hit your blood stream immediately and are then transported to vital organs such as kidney and liver, where they may be stored for many years."
For instance, the average woman eats, albeit unwittingly, five lipsticks a year, which in her lifetime is the equivalent volume of 1.5 blocks of lard.
People who use permanent hair dye are more than twice as likely to develop bladder cancer as those that don't.
Both ammonia and paraphenylenediamine (PPD) - chemical substances used in dyes - can cause allergic reactions, too.

लेकिन चन्द दिन पहले अमित ने कैमेरे लेने के पहले कुछ विचारणीय बातों को ध्यान मे लेने की सलाह दी ,

लेकिन, कैमरा लेने से पहले यह निश्चय करें कि क्या आपको वाकई कैमरा चाहिए? यदि हाँ तो क्या कारण हैं जिनकी वजह से आपको डिजिटल कैमरा चाहिए? इन कारणों की एक सूचि बना लें(आगे भी काम आएगी, कैमरा मॉडल निर्धारित करने में)।

यह मुझे जँची । अपनी लिस्ट बनायी तो समझ मे आया कि मुझे खासकर त्वचा संबधित रोंगों में जैसे लियोकोडर्मा , फ़ंगल संक्रमण आदि मे पेपर तैयार करने के लिये फ़ोटोग्राफ़ की आवशयकता अक्सर पडती है । जो कैमरा अभी मै प्रयोग कर रहा हूँ उसमे फ़ॊटो तो खिचं जाती है लेकिन इन की बारीकियाँ नजर नही आती । और इसके अलावा बाकी मौकों पर तो उसका काम है ही ।

आजकल मेरा भान्जा अनन्त जो इन्फ़ोसीस से अगले महीने जुडने वाला है , लखनऊ भ्रमण के लिये आया हुआ है और साथ मे है उसके कैनन का  S2IS कैमरा। अब इतने बढिया कैमेरे को देखकर तो मेरी उनीदीं आँखों मे ताजगी आ गयी । सोचा कि चलो इससे ही फ़िलहाल हाथ आजमायें । घर की फ़ुलावारी तो आजकल सूनी पडी है , गुलदाउदी के पौधों का रोपण इस सप्ताह बारिश के आरम्भ होते ही कर दिया । गुलमेहंदी के पौधे अभी तो बहुत ही छोटे हैं , हाँ , लेकिन नरगिस मे अबकी बार कुछ जल्द ही फ़ूल आ गये । तो फ़िर किसका फ़ोटो सेशन करें ; हाँ , पक्षियों का यहाँ कोई अकाल नहीं है । पैराकीट ( बजरी ) अपने पूरे शबाब में है यानि प्रजनन के लिये तैयार और इतने रोंमान्टिक मौसम मे कबूतरों मे भी जोडे बनाने की होड सी लगी है । इसी फ़ोटो सेशन की तो  मुझे तलाश थी , जो कल मिल गयी । आप भी देखो और लुत्फ़ उठाओ । हाँ, अधिकतर फ़ोटो अनन्त के ही खीचे हुये हैं ।
