Verdict is up: NJ is NOT the armpit of America!

I’ve been traveling all over lately that if finally just feels good to stay at home for a bit. My paralegal job is in the city and I’ll be sharing an apartment (if you can even call it that!) in the city, so I guess I should try and appreciate my parents’ large sprawling home while I’ve still got it.

People call New Jersey the “armpit of the U.S.” but somehow, how do I put this…I guess when it’s your own armpit, it’s really not that bad. In fact, I’d say NJ is the forearm of America, or wrist even. Whatever, drop the analogy—my point is the NJ is not so bad!

Anyways, I’m going on the road again, but this time, on the road to the malls of New Jersey! Woohoo! I need to buy a TON of stuff to furnish my half of our apartment so I’m trading cars with my mom and taking her mini van all over the state to get the best deals. Not to brag or anything, but I happen to be a fantastic shopper… just one of my many talents! 

I already went to Monmouth Mall since it’s the one right by my house. I sometimes just stop there to pick up lunch because they’ve got a Salad Works and I’m trying to lose a little weight so I can move to NYC thin (is that pathetic?). Anyways, to encourage myself I bought something at Jessica McClintock that pulls just the tiniest bit too much (is that dumb?).

Tonight I’m going over to Freehold Raceway Mall with some friends, mainly to check out the collection at Kirkland’s Home Furnishings, but I’m sure we’ll also pop into Forever 21 and Dead Sea Cosmetics…hello?...i’m moving to NYC, I gotta look good!

Tomorrow my mom and I and said friend (hi Carly!) are all are going to go to Ocean County Mall in Toms River. We figured we’d make a day of it and drive down to Point Pleasant Beach and then stop at the mall on our way back. We’re going to go canoeing on the Manasquan River and eat cheese fries (not good for diet)—I’ll make up for by getting a salad for lunch…Ocean County Mall has an Everything Yogurt & Salad Café.

I guess it’s not such an extensive tour, but 3 malls are probably adequate since I don’t actually need so much (though I like to pretend that I do).

Wish me good weather tomorrow!

What a day! I’m stressed out! I’m lonely. I’m sad. I’m all over the board.

What a day! I'm stressed out! I'm lonely. I'm sad. I'm all over the board. So, what do I do on days like this? I bake. I exercise. I keep as busy as possible and then at the end I curl up in my ridiculously happy and comfy bed with a girly movie.

Here's my day/night:

Walked and talked on the phone for probably an hour or more

Started laundry finally after talking about it for oh I'd say a good two weeks

Started making banana bread with white chocolate

Found cheese stuffed pizza in the freezer when I was getting the bananas out

Made cheese stuffed pizza--let's be honest here, cheese stuffed pizza=amazing and makes any day fabulous

Made banana bread while pizza was cooking

Listened to Mark Driscoll talk about the Rebel's Guide to Joy: Loneliness (I thought it was fitting! haha)

Continued laundry

Ate the amazing pizza while sitting on the floor and watching the banana bread bake/the oven since you can't really see in the oven from the floor...I pretended :)

Folded laundry

Wrote this blog while I waited for the second loaf of banana bread to be done

Here's what will happen next! (my predictions)

Took banana bread out of the oven

Took contacts out/fake got ready for bed

Snuggled in bed and watched Rent

Heard the laundry...got annoyed and went all the way down to get it so it wouldn't get wrinkled

Folded laundry and then returned to the movie

Had some much needed God time and fell asleep all warm in my soft, big bed (I love my bed in case you haven't gathered that yet from this blog)

So there you have it! May your night be filled with as much amazing-ness and yummy food and soft beds as mine has been/will be!

Sorry I've been away for a while...

Mark and 8103 had a great year - dramatically reducing expenses while increasing sales to a true record for this young company. Their products are selling well on Karmaloop (look in the Kasbah for 8103 Clothing) as well as in the stores. You really need to see the work they are putting out.

This year's focus will be on Marketing and Distribution - with Sales Revenue rising as a consequence. If you like their work and know of a outlet we should talk to, send me a note.

We'll be leveraging the work of Ben Mack and his Legend platform in building a solid base from which to grow relationships and sales. Contact me for details...
Please stay in touch - I'll do the same
