Como parte de la sexta prueba de Bloggers confrontation, me vi involucrado en la tarea de realizar una investigación sobre Fael, uno de los bloggers a quien más respeto y sigo de cerca desde hace un rato (jaja pero basta de adulaciones que él no es Juez). La verdad, fue muy divertido responder algunas de ellas y ver las historias que tienen detrás (para mí muchas fueron nuevas, ya que no soy clabber). Y sin más preámbulo, la investigación:

BUENOS AIRES.- El fantasma de la eventual dimisión de Cristina Fernández de Kirchner a la Presidencia, que lleva sólo siete meses en el poder, asomó en Argentina durante algunas horas del jueves a raíz de la catástrofe política que atraviesa su Gobierno, enfrentado con el campo y la oposición.



El 'matrimonio presidencial' Kirchner había tomado como una auténtica 'guerra' a los ricos su plan de imponer un 'impuestazo' a las exportaciones de cereales. Y demonizó como "golpistas" a quienes se oponían por considerarlo inconstitucional y confiscatorio.



Pero después de cuatro meses de protestas populares y 'cacerolazos', debieron someter el 'impuestazo' a votación en el parlamento y el Senado lo rechazó, con el insólito voto en contra del vicepresidente de la República, Julio Cobos.



Desconcertados y más solos que nunca, los Kirchner se atrincheraron en la residencia presidencial de Olivos, aunque hablaron por teléfono móvil y de esas conversaciones surgieron las informaciones sobre una posible dimisión.



En su artículo "El día más triste y atribulado del kirchnerismo", publicado en el matutino 'La Nación', el analista político Carlos Pagni reveló que "de la única renuncia de la que se habló" fue de la de Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.



"La version fue alimentada por el propio Kirchner, que, todavía durante la tarde —según su entorno mas cercano—, machacaba: 'Largá todo y andate, Cristina'. Ella, que se mostró todo el día tranquila, resistió y hasta habló de explorar un acuerdo con el campo", continúa la crónica.



Entonces el gobernador bonaerense Daniel Scioli —ex vicepresidente de Kirchner durante su presidencia de 2003 a 2007— se comunicó con Cristina Fernández para confirmar si pensaba volverse a casa, según Pagni.



"Desmentí todo", le dijo ella al gobernador.



El diario 'Clarín' (el más vendido) se refirió al "clima de incertidumbre" en la residencia presidencial y mencionó que hubo "un cúmulo de versiones sobre la supuesta renuncia de la Presidenta junto con la de Néstor Kirchner a la presidencia del gubernamental partido peronista".

Conmoción tras la derrota en el Senado



"La versión se originó en un diálogo de Kirchner, conmocionado por la derrota en el Senado, con un dirigente social y con otros funcioanrios" acotó, y describió que "el asunto empézó a helar la sangre de funcionarios y militantes kirchneristas".



El diario 'Página 12' (oficialista), en un artículo titulado "Rumores de renuncia", destapó que "la presidenta Cristina Kirchner había evaluado presentar su renuncia al cargo como respuesta ante el impacto institucional producido por el voto disidente del vicepresidente".



"Ante esa incertidumbre, el peronismo pasó la jornada en estado de asamblea, hubo reuniones de diputados y senadores" hasta que el jefe del bloque peronista, Agustín Rossi, recibiera un llamado: 'No voy a irme', garantizó la mandataria".



El matutino 'Critica de Argentina' aseguró que la informción sobre la eventual dimisión de la Presidenta se mantuvo "durante siete horas" en los círculos políticos y empresarios y en las redacciones "como una sentencia irrevocable".

"La versión comenzó a circular con fuerza después del mediodía y se disipó recién cuando la Presidenta arribó a la Casa Rosada, pasadas las 17.00 horas".



"Por la mañana, Néstor Kirchner y su esposa se encerraron durante dos horas en la residencia de Olivos. En ese lapso, discutieron cuál era la estrategia que debían adoptar para salir del abismo al que cayeron cuando Julio Cobos se pronunció a favor del reclamo agropecuario".



"Kirchner fue terminante: sostuvo que era mejor renunciar antes que dar el brazo a torcer", agregó el tabloide, y añadió que "durante esas dos horas, los Kirchner desconectaron los teléfonos móviles y no atendieron a nadie".



Este viernes a la mañana, el ministro de Justicia, Anibal Fernández, fue indagado sobre el asunto por los reporteros durante un acto público y reaccionó mal: "Por favor, no me haga esa pregunta...", rogó a los cronistas.

First off the 'Top 25 Canadian Political Blogs' list combines influence with traffic.  So sites which get less traffic may be ranked higher than others because of their elevated Google Page Rank.  It's explained in full at the top of the page.  It's not a list of the sites with the most traffic, not only that, it's a mix.

Here are my top 10 referrals from the last 30 days - do they say anything about the relevant strength of right versus left blogs?

I think they do say that right blogs tend to have more traffic - and also that their readers are more engaged to click through a link to a new site than readers on left blogs.  Mainly because the lefty blogs tell you what to think, as opposed to the right blogs that direct you to a site and ask you what you think.

The first thing to note is that there are good resources. I’ve found Jason Ryan’s postings at  the NPSC blog to be invaluable. If you’re really keen on the use of social media, and you think your new agency could use some, or could use some guidance, then get yourself over to the SSC (State Services Commission) and hunt about for the guidelines. They have a community of practice that you could refer to as well. Finally, there are sites like So Said the Organisation that talk about the experiences of other jurisdictions, and the British government seems to have published a Guide really recently, which I can't find just now (and would appreciate someone linking to.)

If you’re not predisposed to doing a bit of research before you get into the blogging, podcasting, twittering, wiki editing, or other things I’d been doing, then the GOLDEN RULE when using social media is:

DO NOT, under any circumstances, BE A DICK.

It’s pretty much that simple. The wonderful thing about social media is that it allows you to express yourself freely, and to engage with people all over the world, online. The very real risk this poses is that anything and everything you do or say is permanently recorded by Google Cache. Consequently, if you find yourself having a bit too much coffee in the morning, and you’re the type to blow your stack about things like, for example, trolls saying outrageous things about people you might know, then if your response to that troll will be visible to the whole world.

Why this is a problem is the complicating factor of the Public Service Code of Conduct. Basically the Code can be interpreted to say that you are a representative of the government when speaking in public. You should recognise yourself that the internet is a very public space. Likewise, the Code says that you should maintain the confidence of both Government and Opposition. This obviously means that you’ll need to make sure that your opinions, assuming that you’re putting your opinions online, which is not always a good idea, are politically neutral.

You should be able to get the idea from this short run-down. What it all boils down to is the application of common sense. Just don’t go doing things that could embarrass you, and the boss you’ve disclosed your social media activities to, i.e. operate a "no surprises" policy.

Easy-peesy.

*And I know that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but sometimes it is the only thing that comes to mind (such as when I feel like I might sprout roots from my feet if we have much more damp weather)

It's taken me quite some time to get my act together and post a good amount of my work from this past school year, the 07-08 academic onslaught as I would like to consider it. The year was filled with unhealthy sleep habits, zombie like states during critiques, enough energy drinks to fuel me for life and an appreciation for anyone willing to cut me a deal on printing costs. I was happy to be a part of some of my first experiences directing advertising campaigns and joining the collaborative efforts of fellow designers at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

I found myself happily joining the ranks of Sportszone, an award winning RIT program that covers our sports programs and broadcasts episodes on ESPN and another local sports channel. Check out their website here.

I am also the current art director for Eleven Magazine. The magazine is the combined efforts of several intellectual individuals from the university who have combined their efforts to create a fashion/lifestyle magazine to enrich the minds of our select demographic. We aim to inform and support our readers with food for thought. Take a look at our blog for now, I proudly stand behind the authors included on the blog.

Those were just a few items that kept me entertained and sleep deprived. It was quite the busy year and I've taken what I learned in stride and now hope to apply it to the cliental work provided by White Bicycle in the beginning of August. I was lucky enough to connect with the gentlemen at the Buffalo, NY design studio and became their third designer.

I hope you can all take a moment to view my work below, since I've worked very hard on the collective work you see executed. It may be easier to view the work on my Coroflot profile, however the images below will appear much bigger once clicked, than those on Coroflot. I wish all of my college colleagues and recent graduates the best of luck. It's a competitive world, but if it weren't for such tenacity, we would never strive to be better designers!

I think this buzz-word concept is a strange one. Because there's no playing around when it comes to hard training. Hard training isn't a game. It's a battle. Because what is always at stake is your life!

For people that don't take training seriously... that's a game. You know the types. Those you see in and out of the gym balancing on bosu balls and using their spinning cycles as a couch to watch tv- and as a perch to spy for real LIVE BREATHING girls walking around! The locker talkers. And I'm not limiting this to "trainees." I went into my campus gym a couple of months ago. Great facility and brand spanking new, but something was missing... a power rack.

When I asked the "trainer" behind the counter why they didn't have one he looked at me like I was crazy. "A what?" he said completely bewildered. "You know," I tried to break it down for him: "It has four posts, and safety bars. You use it to safely do squats, benches, rack deadlifts, and pretty much everything else." "Oh," he said still questioning himself. "We've got one of those." And he pointed me at a Smith machine!

This kind of "game" mentality is akin to playing paintball. Sure it might hurt a little, but you're around friends and you KNOW you're walking off the field no matter how much you get hit.

This is not hard training. Hard training involves something deeper. The KNOWLEDGE that you CAN'T mess up. The knowledge that you ARE fighting for your life. You are lifting that weight and eating right because it sustains your life! Because you don't want to be a fat pig outside of the gym. Because you don't want to be crushed by that ton of iron inside the gym.

Because you don't want the collateral damage of cluster bombing yourself with heart attacks, obesity, cancer, emphysema, and several other nasties. Because you want to roll through the streets confident with a Sherman tank, not wheezing atop a moped. And to those who say it is a game, because you can have fun. Sure. You can have fun. You should have fun.

If this stuff doesn't excite you, or you're doing it to prove something to SOMEONE ELSE, you shouldn't be doing it in the first place. You do it for you. To know you can continue to press on. To know that you can take the hill, and have the courage to fly in the face of society's heavy machine gun fire of dirty living, drugs, and shitty food all around you. But you are courageous to know that you WONT get hit. Because you are a friggin' superhero. You are bulletproof.

What if there's an emergency and you have to save someone else's life- OR your own! Then will you think it's all a game? You are Captain America in battle. Your own Hulk or Superman. You CAN bounce back.

And you can do it because you are strong. And nothing will stop you or hold you back from that. The bodybuilders, the strongmen, the power lifters, the athletes, the gym rats. These are the superheroes. And these are the soldiers of the T-Nation army. And you know what...

they'll win the battle. Because everyone else refuses to fight.

The graduation ceremony was a great thrill for me and the rest of the family. I thought I would explode with pride. My son looked so handsome in his gown (minus cap, you will notice. Apparently, the graduates had been throwing them into the air for photographs after the ceremony and it was thought that was too dangerous - someone had hurt their eye a year or so ago, so political correctness prevailed and they were banned apart from in the official studio portraits - utter madness.)

My two sons and my ex and I, had a great few days in Leeds, it really is a fun city with lots of great shopping  (unless you are shopping with/for two very fussy sons - and I thought women were supposed to be bad!) and restaurants. We had one particularly wonderful dinner at a restaurant called Anthony's which was a bit 'Heston Blumenthal' if you know what I mean! Every dish had at least one ingredient that made you say 'What?!' (risotto of white onion, parmesan air and espresso? Or poached quail, pea sorbet, cocoa, morels? Or how about my dessert of apple parfait, pork filo and sage ice cream?) We were all totally amazed at how delicious it all was, in fact we would go so far as to say it was one of the best (if not the best) dinner we had ever eaten.

Since we returned, #2 son has spent his days fishing in the river which runs through our garden - amazingly he actually managed to catch a fish yesterday (which he threw back). I don't know who was more surprised #2 son, me or the fish! He saw an otter in the river while he was fishing but by the time he had shouted me to come and look, it had gone - probably terrified by the loud shouting coming from the river bank :-)

We did manage to spot a fox in the field next to my garden. Apparently, it has four fox cubs which we haven't managed to see yet but the mother fox comes out every evening for a walk around the field. We managed to catch some shots of her including this one of the fox eyeing up a crow which seemed quite oblivious.

I love the view into the field, as do some others it seems...

We have had a really fun time since we got back from Leeds. I'm very conscious that these times together are going to be much rarer in the future. My nest will be well and truly empty. On the bright side I will have lots of time to make books and play tennis... (knee is finally better, by the way). I have been working on a photo album which I am making as a gift for a friend whose daughter is about to give birth to a little girl - my friend's first grandchild. Here is a sneak preview.

By the way, an update on my garden furniture saga. PayPal finally decided in my favour and have refunded me £500 which is the most they can, the balance is still to come from the dodgy seller, (Gemma at Land of Sofas) so I'm not holding my breath. I was contacted by someone else who read about my problems here, she had also bought furniture from this wretched woman but had been too late to file a claim with PayPal, so she stands to lose all her money.

When I was searching for alternative garden furniture, I found a web site selling the same furniture, under a different name (Home Living Online) but I could tell from the telephone number that it was the same people. Please do not buy from this company. I have reported them to the Trading Standards people and I hope that they will stop them from swindling any more unsuspecting customers.

Well, it's nice to be back blogging and I have missed my visits to my blogging friends - thank you for your concern at my absence, but fret not!  #2 son is off on holiday next week so the house will be quiet again and I can get back into a routine. Books and blogging here I come....

As if it isn't bad enough that I am forced to spend 8-9 hours a day in this cube jungle with all of you, I now have to wonder who leaves behind the butt resin on the restroom toilet seats. I realize that this sounds crude, but how would you like being the one to walk into a restroom stall and see it first hand?  

Why is it so hard for adults to pick up after themselves? I'm trying really hard not to judge here and not ask where this "resin" is coming from. Instead, I only ask that after you are finished with your "business," you turn around, flush the toilet and make sure that you didn't leave anything behind. It's only fair to everyone else. This also goes for you lovely ladies who must enjoy peeing on the toilet seats and/or leaving your "business" un-flushed for everyone to see. Whether you're acting out because you weren't held enough as a child or are doing it for attention in hopes of receiving some kind of praise for a job well done, it needs to stop.  Outside of the K9 world, marking your territory is seen as just plain gross.

They say that men are dirtier than women, but the women I work with seem to be working really hard to catch up!

You can dirty-up your bathroom all you want at home, just please pick up after yourself in the restroom at work.

Monday I handed in my resignation. The topic of my job and business all together requires it's own post. Considering I don't have a strong vodka tonic and a cigarette handy, that will have to wait. My last day is the 31st of July. After that I'm on vacation and then back in school. Hell yeah.

Topic: From the past to the present: How to gain social media success

Nancy is a former attendee of the social media conference and in a very short amount of time after attending she has been able to bring social media to the Harford Police Department. She emphasized the "one step at a time" approach. At first the Dept. brought RSS feeds to the websites and she sold the local press and media on their use vs. conventional listserv technology. It took approximately a week to develop the RSS feed with a few hours from an internal developer.

As the possible benefits of social media became apparent, police chief Daryl Roberts started a blog to gain trust with the community, work with people and address the need for help solving certain crimes in the area.

Nancy recommended using a three E approach when changing your organization:

• Explore
• Engage
• Enlighten

Nancy's involvement came in part with the Web Governance Committee and gaining buy in. By taking a lead in web governance Nancy was able to apply her new knowledge and guide discussions on development.

Key Points:

• Use multi-purpose content
• Don't reinvent the wheel - add social media (e.g., comment features) to existing sites
• Maintain Service Relationships and safety

Tras la derrota en el Senado, el Gobierno suspendió las retenciones móviles

Lo anunció esta tarde el jefe de Gabinete, Alberto Fernández. Fue por un decreto de la Presidenta, en el que retrotrajo los derechos a las exportaciones al nivel que había en noviembre de 2007. Así, volvieron a ubicarse en un 35% para la soja y 28% para el trigo. En la norma, Cristina volvió a criticar la protesta del campo y a defender su derecho a subir las retenciones.

A un día y medio de la derrota en el Senado, y con fuertes críticas a los productores rurales y a los legisladores de la Cámara alta, la Presidenta firmó esta tarde el decreto que da marcha atrás con la resolución 125 y otras normas asociadas, lo que deja atrás el esquema de retenciones móviles que había instalado el 11 de marzo.



Con la limitación de la vigencia de esa resolución, el Gobierno pone en vigencia las resoluciones 368 y 369 de noviembre del año pasado, que fijaban en un 35 por ciento fijo el pago de los derechos de exportación de soja. En los hechos, Cristina Kirchner retrotrae la situación al día previo al inicio del conflicto.



El anuncio fue realizado por el ministro de Economía, Carlos Fernández, y por el jefe de Gabinete, Alberto Fernández, aunque sólo tomó la palabra este último y se limitó a la lectura de la norma.



Los fundamentos del decreto forman casi un resumen de los argumentos y las quejas del Gobierno para ruralistas y legisladores en los últimos días. Justifica que las retenciones móviles fue creada porque "la igualdad de oportunidades es un eje" del Gobierno y en la intención de "procurar mayor equidad en las relaciones económicas y en la distribución del ingreso".



El decreto insiste con la "repercusión del crecimiento de los precios internacionales de alimentos". Y asegura que esto "aleja la posibilidad de adquirirlos a los sectores populares".



Luego aparecen las duras críticas a las entidades de productores agropecuarios. La norma, que regirá cuando sea publicada en el Boletín Oficial, expresa que el esquema de las retenciones móviles "fue pretexto para un violento lock out que inició una escalada de cortes de ruta, desabastecimiento, acciones verbales y físicas".



También el Congreso se lleva su parte de las quejas oficiales. El decreto diferencia las acciones en Diputados y en el Senado. De la Cámara alta, donde el oficialismo consiguió aprobar la ratificación de las retenciones por siete votos, asegura que se pudo "acordar un proyecto". Pero de los senadores manifiesta que "sólo pudieron lograr un empate", minimizando la decisión del vicepresidente Julio Cobos de votar en contra de la iniciativa oficial y evitar su sanción.



El Gobierno se lamenta en el decreto –a pesar de que el propio Néstor Kirchner fue uno de los más activos en ese sentido- que el Congreso haya sido objeto de "presiones" durante el tratamiento del proyecto oficial y que el debate se haya dado "en un marco de agresiones".



Esos argumentos forman el núcleo central del prólogo para la limitación de la vigencia de la resolución 125 y de las que la ajustaron con, por ejemplo, sistemas de compensaciones. Y se pone en vigencia los aranceles de noviembre de 2007, con el 35 por ciento fijo para la soja, el 28% para el trigo, el 10% para el girasol y el 25% para el maíz.



Así, queda atrás el esquema de retenciones móviles que desencadenó el virulento conflicto que desde hace más de cuatro meses convulsiona al país, y que incluyó masivos actos y contractos, carpas en el Congreso, una fractura de hecho en el oficialismo, paros agrarios y numerosos cortes de ruta. Ahora se abre el interrogante acerca de qué tipo de consenso se podrá construir, tras semejante desgaste, para una nueva resolución.

La Resolución 125, ya no es inamovible, como se expresó infinidad de veces por el Gobierno.

La Resolución 125 , ya no existe, ha sido derogada por el Decreto 1176 del Poder Ejecutivo.

Le pregunto al Ex Presidente  Néstor Kirchner:

¿ Quien quedó de rodillas ahora? y ¿quien a sido el responsable del desgaste absurdo de la Presidenta Argentina?

Mi interpretación es: Usted Sr. Ex Presidente Néstor Kirchner, haga un paso al costado. Es latimosa y avergonzante su figura, queriendo opacar y perjudicar como lo a hecho a la Sra. Presidenta.

Usted es un Ex Presidente, si quiere volver vuelva, vaya a elecciones, o que lo designen en este Gobierno, pero no desgaste más a la Presidenta de los Argentinos.

Tomese un baño de Humildad y de no Soberbia, no confrontación, no ideología, no vivir en el pasado, no sembrar la DIVISION entre ARGENTINOS, y deje a Gobernar a la Sra. Presidenta.
