There are people that cross your road one day, you don't know why they leave a foot mark more than others.

For reasons not to be stated here, i will just tell you that i wanted to share this poem, dedicated to you years ago. If you come accross this post, that would be a great pleasure if you post a comment.

Here is my poem!

JOYFUL JERRY

Hope induces expectations

Even in case of desillusion

Over and over again you try

Revelation may be at the end of that path

Riding out storms

Rosebuds will colour your way

Till you reach your aim

You may be Stone cold,

Not for me

Enjoy life Jerry

And never settle on regrets and sorrows

Keep being as strong as a rock

For ever and ever again

Poem by Hortense (Willykean)

Special tests that usually must be done within the first few days of illness can be carried out, when needed to tell if a person has the flu. Read more...

Okay, here is another good zucchini recipe for your bumper crop. This is a creamy soup with a beautiful green color -- it even looks healthy! It can be eaten hot or cold and can be frozen if you want to double the recipe and save some for another time.

Ingredients:

1 qt. cubed zucchini (do not peel)

1 1/2 c. water

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. pepper

2 vegetable bouillon cubes OR 2 packets G. Washington's Golden Seasoning and Broth

1 tsp. dry dill weed

1/2 c. chopped onion

2 Tbsp. margarine or organic butter (I substitute olive oil for this)

Method:

Combine all ingredients (except onions and butter) and cook until fork tender, about 7 - 10 minutes. Cool.

Meanwhile, Saute the onions in butter (or olive oil). Cool.

When everything has cooled to room temperature put it all in a blender and puree until creamy and no chunks remain. Or, if you have a submersible stick blender you don't even have to wait for the soup to cool. You can just blend it in the pot while it's still hot.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!

I lost my phone. My lifeline. I have a fucking show tonight and no way to contact anyone. No way to find out if my sound guys are gonna show up on time, no way to find out who the opening band is because a band dropped off yesterday..... no way to know if the bands are going to be late. Shit shit shit. Normally I wouldn't be so worried about losing my phone - but it is a show day. On show days, a phone is important.

FUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKK!!!!

I don't want to do anything today - I want to go home and lay in my bed and sleep and think about life (maybe go to the gym?). My roommate always knows what to say to me to make me think anyway - he said some things to me this morning again, in the vein of that I am slutty and have no respect for myself or him...and that he shouldn't care about me if I don't care about him. We have this crazy brother sister type relationship.... it's really odd. I understand where he is coming from - and I probably have done slutty things for sure, but I do have respect for myself and for him and his girlfriend. Ah well - I should be telling him this not blogging it. Maybe I should just amend my timesheet and go home. Fuck. I need to wait until 3 when the place I hope my phone is opens, its right by my work..... so I can't really go home.
Why do I make all these damn flyers and then the fucking bands drop off ??? Okay I am just venting now. Shit.
This is going to be a loooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggg day. I'm cold. This building is cold.
I can't wait for tomorrow so that I can just chill the fuck out. because I have a show sunday too. ...

once again.

Fuck.

I have Just posted the longest blog that I have ever typed yet. *Phew*
I wonder if it covers up for the whole week of non-writing. Just like I wonder if I can take the whole week's medicine all at once..which reminds me of the terrible cold that I have caught up on occurrence of the slightest of drizzle. *sneezes* :-( ...and this cold was enough for shattering some of my plans. Damned virus.

The viruses must be having a blast in the back of my nose, striking their flagellates in high fives and rubbing there membranes in anticipation of a long lazy day off, yet again. But I may just have the better of them today. That pretty much clears what I have been doing all this week (fighting the cold). With just one get away being the weekend movie that I went to..with a couple of goofy friends...who's identities I can't disclose..

:-D LOL..

The movie was Hancock...Highly anticipated and equally disappointing. I am not going to give a review though :-p
Which btw reminds me of the fact that no Indian superhero has ever found the space on the silver screen in bollywood. Most of them have only found their glory in the old comic book shops. Some of them really have it in them to be SUPER BIG. And still the best that Indian Cinema has to offer is "Mr. India" and "Krish"...poofs..!

Anyways I thing I have to find ways to get some real traffic into this blog. When the friends aren't supporting I may need some superpowers... LOL..signing off... :-)

I’m taking to herbs much better than I thought I would. First thing I want to say is that if

I'm taking to herbs much better than I thought I would. First thing I want to say is that if anyone out there has any must-have books on herbs, please let me know. The selection is overwhelming and I need to have a book referencing many of the herbs and their properties. I also like to have books full of beautiful landscapes and garden plans...like, don't need. So if you know of or have a really good herbal reference book that you find yourself going to again and again, please let me know.

So I did finally order some basic herbs to start my herb cupboard. I ordered Alfalfa, Cat Mint, Cinnamon, Slippery Elm powder, Hawthorn Berries, Bilberries, Chamomile Flowers, Comfrey, Olive Leaf, Nettle Leaf, and Ginger Root. I've harvested Lemon Balm, Lavender, Plantain, Fenugreek Seed, Yarrow, Lemon Grass, Thyme, Basil, and Oregano. All this is in addition to the Peppermint, Spearmint, Cayenne, fresh Lemons, Garlic, and Ginger that I already have on hand. It didn't seem like much, but with it on-hand it really is quite the collection! Thankfully we have a dresser with open shelves up top that is being moved out of one room and into my kitchen for storage. The drawers will be a nice dark spot for herbs and "tonics" as my oldest calls them and then the top will be for cookbooks and a few other items that need a home.

Some of my family thinks me a bit odd for having herbs brewing in alcohol, feeding a sick kid a spoonful of Garlic Honey, but so it goes. We are trying to persue a more traditional style of life and this is one path we are taking. Besides, when you see your kid gladly taking garlic honey to help fight an oncoming cold (and smell her breath) then see her getting well instead of more into a cold...well, let's just say I know it's working for us and it's far less than a doctor bill and prescription or even a bottle of cough medicine. I am not saying that there isn't a time and place for the medical community. I guess in the end we are trying to find a balance between what we can accomplish with the God-given resources at hand versus when modern medicine is best.

Enough drivel, here's what we have done so far with the herbs we have:

Lavender Honey

Basil Olive Oil

Thai Basil Olive Oil

Immune Booster- This tincture has been setting for 2 weeks will be for another week. It has Echinacea tops and root as well as peppermint in it.

Garlic Honey to help with one of the girls coming down with a cold (and it worked well)

Ginger Lemonade with Honey for the same little one that was under the weather

Plantain on bug bites, fresh chewed up and spread onto the area

Oatmeal with Honey, Cinnamon, and Bilberries

In my plans are:

a tea to help control blood pressure

Fenugreek Seed tincture

Cat Mint, Chamomile, and Lemon Balm tea because it sounds cool and calm

cooking as often as possible with what I have on hand!

Next time I discuss herbs, I'll try highlighting some of what we have used so far and how it has worked for us.

As I am sure you can figure, I am not a member of the medical community and I feel I have to say that anything I post in relation to health should be taken as just that...this is about my experience, not my trained/medical advice.

If you have ever been on this website, which odds are, you haven't, you may have noticed that the top image has changed. It's a photo of San Francisco, and Jensen Beach, FL, with the words "Videos by KM" in the middle. I have changed it 5 times today, but this is the last change that I will make, at least for a week. I think that this is the best fit, for the new layout and colors. The San Francisco photo was shot about 3 weeks from the current date of the publishing of this post. It was about 69°F. And along with the smoke, the fog made it really hard to see. But it is better that way, because when there is no fog, and you can see everything, it's just not right. I had a friend tell me that the coldest winter was a summer in San Francisco. That is ridiculous. But I get what they are trying to say, because at the same time, it was 109°F, 300 miles away. Well, I just wanted to share that. It took a little while to put the image

Today I wear the Malice Hoodie of Doom. It is the best piece of clothing ever. It is, in fact, a hoodie. Upon which are printed the words "Hoodie of Doom". See here. I am feeling rather doomful. I would like to take this opportunity to bequeath doom upon the universe.

Doom doom doom.

I feel substantially better already. I think I may continue, if you don't mind.

Ehem.

DOOM be upon the makers of the evil Marlboro cigarette, for creating such a delicately flavoured, deliciously toasty, yummily aromatic stick of death, from whose clutches I cannot seem to liberate myself. I am going to buy shares in British American Tobacco. I'm probably single-handedly responsible for their generous profit margin.

DOOM be upon the heads of the makers of the new Kylie Minogue album. Because I actually like it and on the scant occasions when I am CAUGHT OUT singing along to the masterful pop melodies I am filled with shame and humiliation. They're just so...damn...catchy, darnit.

DOOM be upon the two girls who disappeared into the bathroom stall of the Corner Bar for half an hour the other night when I'd had too many vodka cranberries and the other stall smelled like human emissions.

And DOOM be upon the head of the old lady who scowled at my beautiful Hoodie of Doom in the Pick ‘n Pay this morning. She had a face which could, if utilized correctly, end the world. I shall buy her a Malice Clothing Hoodie of Doom. Which wouldn't help, I suppose, because you'd still be able to see her face.

Sigh. I feel much better, thank you.

I'm currently trying to find a way to get a Hoodie of Doom to the White House. Imagine George Bush going about his merry day, playing golf and walking his dogs, finding new and creative ways of killing millions of people with his think tank, sending more helpless little soldier people into warzones, all the while wearing a Hoodie of Doom. In fact, I would love to send his whole cabinet Hoodies of Doom. They could all sit in congress, wearing matching hoodies of different colours, perhaps with numbers on the back. But I doubt they'd wear them in congress. But perhaps on team-building day.

In case no-body has noticed, Cape Town is cold. Freezing cold. Unbearably cold. This week in particular. There is snow on Table Mountain, which is against the natural order of things and subsequently adding to my doomful mood and making the acquisition of a warm, fluffy yet suitably alternative hoodie a must. If you are considering the purchase of a hoodie this season, check out the Malice Clothing Hoodie of Doom. It's wonderful. Please don't buy those awful ones from the skate shops. They're not wonderful. I've noticed they come in pinstripe now. A pinstripe hoodie. Have you ever? And they're made in Chinese sweatshops by small nimble-fingered children who have never been allowed to watch spongebob squarepants. Or speak. NOT COOL.

Doom doom doom.

Have a nice day. :)

After the first two days I would have really been able to eat ten Big Macs with no effect, theoretical. Started in Linz at 9 a.m. our average speed was about 25 km/h for the first 80 km. Then in Ybbs/Donau we stopped for a Pizza at Giovannis Pizzeria which I can really recommend.

After that first longer break we moved on. In Wachau we then grabbed some fresh and tasty cherries and apricots. Half an hour later, the sky was getting darker and we looked for a place to sleep. In fact, we wanted to find something under a bridge to avoid getting wet in case of rain and thunderstorms. We then figured out a nice place near the highway in the woods. Everything looked pretty dry, even the light rain couldn't really manage to get through all the trees. So we decided to stay there for the first night.

So we looked for the driest spots and placed our Biwaks there, which are kind of tents without fiberglass bars. I had a single person Biwak from McKinley, my dad a bit larger one. And if you ever think of buying a Biwak, I can recommend not to buy one from McKinley. In my case, it really sucked. For the first hour, everything was pretty dry. Then the rain started to get stronger, and another hour later my silk sleeping bag got wettish already.

I then moved to my dads one, and it got kind of tight. Rain got even stronger. It was not possible to fully close the Biwak to keep the rain outside, so our heads regularly got wet. When one moved out for toilet, the other got the whole bunch of rain resting on the Biwak onto his head. Beside that, it got really cold outside. Strictly spoken, we both were happy when the birds chirped.

The morning surprised us with a lot of sun and we were happy to be able to dry our things (inside my Biwak there was a little lake). At 10 a.m. we finally moved on towards Vienna. My first impression was "we're never going to manage it, my butt just hurts too much". We both had the impression, to be much slower than the day before but in fact we cycled exactly the same distance (120 km) at about the same time (OK, it took us 20 minutes longer, which was because we couldn't find my uncles house).

So finally, 240 km, an effective cycling time of about 11,5 hours and 5000 additional kcal later we arrived. The third day is for regeneration, on the fourth we're heading to Innsbruck by train, which means getting up at 4 in the morning... Will get to bed at 6 p.m. I suppose.

You may have noticed that when you mention 'summer' to us San Franciscans, we like nothing more than to complain about how our summers are freezing. Woe to us who have to live with foggy, misty days and frigid, windy nights! This summer, though, we've been getting more than our fair share of sweaty summer days so we (at least, I) haven't been complaining as much. At first glance, it's pretty awesome to not have to bundle up in sweaters in the middle of July and actually be able to wear those cute summer skirts hiding in the closet. But then when you realize the randomly hot and dry weather is literally burning up our state, being able to wear cute summer skirts hardly seems worth it.

Honestly, who needs really hot weather when there are plenty of other signs of summer around us? I'm talking, of course, about those summer fruits and vegetables! These days, even a salad quickly turns into a hugely colorful affair, because who can resist throwing in handfuls of sweet corn, green beans, and radishes? And I, for one, cannot bear to let our apartment be tomato-free even for a day. Oh, and we mustn't forget the giant piles of berries, peaches, and apricots practically begging to be eaten! Speaking of which, I need to finish this entry stat because there's a bowl of Royal Blenheim apricots calling my name.

This bread salad (call it 'Panzanella' to impress your friends or if you're Alex Trebek) is one of the simplest, easiest, and summer-iest salads ever. And the extra good news? It lets you use that stale half-loaf of bread that's been hanging out in your kitchen for days!

crusty bread, preferably very stale
2-3 medium tomatoes, chopped
1 small red onion, thinly sliced
1 cup loosely packed basil leaves, torn or coarsely chopped
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tbsp red-wine vinegar

Either slice the bread or rip into chunks. In a large bowl, soak bread in cold water to cover 10 minutes. While waiting, prepare the rest of the vegetables.

Working with a handful at a time, squeeze as much water as possible from bread and coarsely crumble into a serving bowl (you should have about 4 cups).

Add tomatoes, onion, and basil, then drizzle with oil and vinegar and gently toss to mix.

Season with salt and pepper and toss well.

(Makes enough for a light supper for 2)

I slowly stepped up to the door. 1, 2, 3.. I counted the steps as I went, lightly placing my foot on the next as if I could awaken the street, if the pouring rain hadn't already. My hand gripped onto the door knob. I turned.

Locked. Stammering, I looked towards your window on the second floor to see if you were waiting. Your room was lifeless -a coffin. Where were you?

I shifted my view to the puddles outlining the empty street. I know you're in there. I turned back to the door to try the handle again, except, you had already started opening it from the inside.

You were crying, but instead of falling into my arms, you walked straight through me. Straight down the steps and into the street. You caught your taxi in the rain and left to wherever the roads would take you.

I've always been fascinated by urban exploration and abandoned/decommissioned buildings and structures (as evidenced by my category Fascinations\Urban Spelunking), so this article definitely piqued my interest:

If you thought The Greenbrier bunker was impressive wait till you see what the UK kept hidden under a small town in the UK.

A 35 acre subterranean Cold War City that lies 1000 feet beneath Corsham. Built in the late 50s this massive city complex was designed by Government personnel in the event of a nuclear strike. A former Bath stone quarry the city, code named Burlington, was to be the site of the main Emergency Government War Headquarters - the hub of the Country's alternative seat of power outside London.
Over a kilometre in length, and boasting over 60 miles of roads. Blast proof and completely self-sufficient the secret underground site could accommodate up to 6,000 people, in complete isolation from the outside world, for up to three months.
An underground lake and treatment plant could provide all the drinking water needed whilst 12 huge tanks could store the fuel required to keep the four massive generators, in the underground power station, running for up to three months. And unlike most urban cities, above ground, the air within the complex could also be kept at a constant humidity and heated to around 20 degrees. The city was also equipped with the second largest telephone exchange in Britain, a BBC studio from which the PM could address the nation and an internal Lamson Tube system that could relay messages, using compressed air, throughout the complex.
Below are some photos of the unused facilities. It was maintained in working order until the late 1980's until it was cut back to a staff of 4 and then decommissioned in December 2005.

It is freezing here in Larrauri.

This morning I got out from home at 8:10 and the thermometer in the car showed -7 degrees Celsius. The car was covered in frost, and the fields were white until midday.

When I arrived at work, a colleague commented that the newspaper announces a Siberian dry cold wave approaching. My childhood dream of visiting Tunguska is becoming real!
