Lo sorprendente es que Will Smith renunció al papel de superhéroe por antonomasia, Superman, según ha desvelado en la promoción de esta película. Fue a la MTV, y el film al que se refería era Superman Return, de Bryan Singer. Menos mal que la cosa no fructificó, no por el color sino porque cuesta imaginarse a Smith como un apocado periodista del Planet.

En fin, habrá que ver qué puede aportar Hancock, al cine sobre todo porque en el cómic superhéroes canallas, mercenarios y con contratos publiciarios ya se han visto unos cuantos (os recomiendo la lectura de Fuerza-X y X-Statix, de Peter Milligan y Michael Allred). Sea lo que sea, seréis los primeros en enteraros de nuestra opinión.

Prologo:

Muy pocas veces he publicado un libro con tanta ilusión como éste que tienes en tus manos. La idea de Alfonso Moliné de escribir un Ebro que entrara «por los ojos», me pareció muy buena, más aún por tratarse de un libro que enseña magia, y no simplemente trucos.

El libro concebido inicialmente para no iniciados se convirtió, al final, en una sólida obra, capaz de interesar a los magos ya iniciados y con ánimo de superación.

A pesar de su medio millar de ilustraciones, del propio autor, no es un «cómic» mágico. Es un libro sólido, que hay que leer. No tiene desperdicio.

Todo lo que pudiera decirte del libro es poco. Sin duda el de más altos vuelos, a la par que asequible a profanos, publicado para hispanoparlantes. El libro que hubiera querido hallar en mis primeros pasos mágicos. El libro que me hiciera ver que hay algo más que hacer trucos.

Aprenderás magia. No, trucos. Elevarás tus actuaciones a nivel de arte dramático.

Esto es magia.

If everything is for a reason, something good had better come out of this... =.= Hey, maybe I'll get thinner!!! XD Well I've been eating nothing but porridge and biscuits.. the conversation with my doctor actually went like this.

Doc: Okay, so for the next couple of days, no meat, no veggies, as little fruit as possible... don't take salt and sugar in excess, and stay away from milk and milk products...
Me: (stunned) so, what can I eat?
Doc: Oh, biscuits, bread, 100 plus, rice, water, rice with water....
Me: (more stunned, unsure if she's being serious or if that was my cue to start laughing.

Right! Now we come to the funnest part of shopping (next to the shopping itself, of course =D).. unpacking!!!

We actually opened these before any others because we couldn't wait to play =P. one of the posters and 8 of our rare cards are signed by Cedric (creator of Men at Sea)... of these cards, one card had its illustration done by Cedric himself =D

Die wenig erfolgreiche Künstlerin Wendy Watson (Natalie Morales bekannt aus CSI: Miami) hangelt sich von einem miesen Job zum nächsten. Als sie bei einer Begegnung mit einem riesigen Schwabbelmonster erstaunlich cool bleibt, wird sie von einem mysteriösen Mann (Matt Keeslar), der sich nur „The Middleman“ nennt, als Spezialagentin rekrutiert. Als Team jagen sie fortan Bösewichter, Monster und durchgeknallte Wissenschaftler, die die Welt bedrohen. Das Ganze klingt nicht nur zufällig nach James Bond und Men in Black, die Referenzen sind klar. Matt Keeslar sieht aus wie eine Mischung aus Superman und dem berühmten Agenten der britischen Krone. Auch einen Q gibt es. „Er“ (Mary Pat Gleason) ist allerdings einer strickenden Hausfrau nicht unähnlich, ist mit allerlei Technik vollgestopft und hört auf den Namen „Ida“. Zu den festen Seriencharakteren gesellen sich noch Wendys umweltschützende Mitbewohnerin Lacey (Brit Morgan), Wendys nervende Mutter am Telefon, die ständig fragt, warum sie denn nichts aus ihrem Leben mache, Wendys Freund von der Filmhochschule, der wahrscheinlich nicht schwul ist, und der philosophierende Musiker Noser (Jake Smollet) im Flur vor der illegal untervermieteten Wohnung.

The Middleman ist ein Fest für den TV-verseuchten Serienfan. Nicht nur die oben genannten Filme werden zitiert, es gibt Unmengen von Referenzen an alte Serien und die gute alte Fernsehzeit. Wie schon bei Pushing Daisies gibt es auch hier technisch lang Vergessenes zu sehen. Beispielsweise fahren Wendy und der Middleman in alten Sportwagen vor einer Projektionswand (siehe die alten Bond-Filme oder die Batman-Serie). Das Ganze sieht dabei keineswegs billig aus. Man produziert mit viel Liebe zum Detail. Es wird Wert auf die handgemachte Ausstattung gelegt. Ein wichtiger Bestandteil einer Comedy-Serie ist natürlich der Humor. The Middleman kommt erstaunlich wortlastig daher. Dabei reiht sich ein Screwball-Dialog an den nächsten. Besonders witzig ist die altmodische und zynische Art des Middleman (Austin Powers lässt grüßen), aber auch Wendy gibt sich wunderbar sarkastisch. Für ausreichend skurrile Situationen wird selbstverständlich auch gesorgt (z.B. Affen mit Waffen).

Das vorliegende Konzept bietet also genügend Stoff für schräge Geschichten und einen unterhaltsamen Fortgang der Serie. Die Fragen sind natürlich, ob die Autoren das hohe Spaßniveau halten können und ob die Serie beim Zuschauer ankommt, von einer Chance auf eine deutsche Ausstrahlung mal ganz abgesehen. Ich zumindest war von den ersten drei Folgen äußerst positiv überrascht und wurde großartig unterhalten. The Middleman macht richtig Spaß! Deshalb, aber zunächst „vorerst“:

Der Film "Hancock" ist am 03.07.08 in den Kinos angelaufen. Peter Berg führte bei "Hancock" Regie und drehte ihn in Los Angeles, zuuvor wurde Tony Scott und Michael Mann die Regie angeboten.

Es gibt Helden und Superhelden, aber es gibt auch Hancock (Will Smith). Wie jeder weiß folgt aus großer Macht auch große Verantwortung ("Spiderman"), aber Hancock weiß nichts davon. Denn durch Missgeschicke ist die Bevölkerung von Los Angeles nicht gut auf Hancock zu sprechen, besser gesagt sie hassen ihn alle. Jedoch will ein PR-Berater (Jason Bateman) das ramponierte Image von Hancock wieder aufpolieren. Jedoch nimmt das Chaos ihren Lauf, als sich Hancok in die Frau des PR-Beraters Mary (Charlize Theron) verliebt.

Will Smith ist ein Superstar, was ihn als Box-Office-potenten Superstar auszeichnet. Damit garantiert er seinen Fans immer ein großes Maß an Unterhaltung. Jedoch im Film "Hancock" sind sowohl die Charaketere und die Storyline ziemlich unausgereift. Am meisten Spaß machen einige witzige Oneline in der ersten Filmhälfte oder kleine gewitzte Einschübe wie eine Szene mit CNN Moderatorin Nancy Grace, die sich selbst vorführte. Charlize Theron hat im ersten Filmteil eine undankbare Aufgabe, kann sich jedoch später noch von der Dominaz Will Smiths freispielen. Jason Bateman überrascht in "Hancock" und gibt dem Film damit eine bisschen Seele und Bodenhaftung. Ein ebenbürtiger Gegner fehlt in "Hancock" absolut, am ehesten fällt die Rolle Eddie Marsan zu der aber ziemlich verheizt wird als Captain-Hook-Hand-Bösewicht.

Die als launiger Superhelden Verfilmung gedachte "Hancock" enttäuscht leider mit einer sehr schwachen Storyline. Die Action-Komödie trifft leider nur selten Ton des Genres. Jedoch lässt sich mit der Starpower einer Charlize Theron und eines Will Smiths jedes Thema an den Mann bringen. Daher werden sich die hohen Produktionskosten wieder einspielen. "Hancock" ist ein unterhaltsamer Film in der ersten Filmhälfte, aber danach flacht der Film sehr stark ab. Deshalb vergebe ich 6 von 10 Punkten, was hauptsächlich an den guten Onelinern und der Starpower liegt, denn die Story ist mehr als schwach.

La visión más tierna y veraz del horror de Auswichtz. La historia de una familia judía que lucha por salir a flote en medio del terror nazi. Una obra autobiográfica, en la que el autor recopila información sobre los hechos de boca de su padre, alguien que arrastra todas las secuelas de haber vivido el Holocausto.

En Maus el autor también realiza un retrato de su padre en su vejez, así como de su difícil y tensa relación con él. Vladek es una persona perseguida por el recuerdo de su esposa muerta -suicidada-, con hábitos adquiridos en su supervivencia, que a Art, su hijo, le resultan insoportables. Tacaño, ahorrador hasta el límite de devolver una caja de cereales a medio terminar, obsesivo y necesitado de estar rodeado de los suyos.

Todo ello con un dibujo sencillo y claro, donde los personajes se nos muestran zoomórficos. Los judíos son ratones, tal y como manifestó un período filonazi polaco al respecto de Mickey Mouse -decadente dibujo estadounidense-, y los alemanes gatos. La presentación de los polacos como cerdos, así como las referencias continuas a la disponibilidad de éstos a la hora de vender a sus vecinos judíos, parece indicar un cierto rencor. Pocos polacos estarán dispuestos a ayudar a la familia, y muchos querrán aprovecharse de su desgracia.

Maus está considerado unánimemente por la crítica como uno de los mejores cómics de la historia. Además, se trata de uno de los escasos cómics que no sólo trascendido al gran público sino que lo hizo con un reconocimiento notable: recibió uno de los prestigiosos Premios Pulitzer en 1992, una beca de la Fundación Guggenheim y dio lugar a una exposición en el Museo de Arte Moderno de Nueva York.

Maus es una obra sincera, que transmite valores y sentimientos de una forma magistral. La tragedia se conjuga con pequeños momentos cómicos, y un profundo amor familiar. En medio del terror, la pérdida de los familiares se presenta de forma traumática al lector, aunque los protagonistas pronto olvidan con tal de sobrevivir. Vladek, continuamente afrontando el peligro, sale a flote con tal de ver el mañana y a su débil esposa.
