My first wish is to see this plague of mankind, war, banished from the earth.” These are not the words of a pacifist or peacenik. General George Washington, the canny military strategist and first leader of the American army, recognized that war is a horror. While we bask in our independence today, let us also recognize the price paid by those—then and now—who fight for it. After the Revolution, 25,000 Americans lay dead. About 25,000 more were seriously wounded or disabled. That is a high price, indeed, for our freedom. Since 1776, the world has fought more than 300 wars, and nearly 40 conflicts still rage. The cost remains steep.

Today, 1.6 million Americans have served in Afghanistan and Iraq. Over 4,000 are dead. Those who return are missing limbs, are disfigured, are coping with traumatic brain injuries. Still others have less visible wounds. Over 300,000 now exhibit symptoms of post-traumatic stress and alienation here at home. They have broken marriages, unchecked anger, thoughts of suicide. Their military service may be over, but they and their families (including over two million children) remain profoundly affected. The costs related to stress and depressive disorders may reach $6 billion over the next two years, according to a recent study by Rand.

And that’s where we, as civilians, must activate. We must commit ourselves as everyday people to reach out to these wounded warriors to help them overcome. Because I am here to tell you, nobody survives trauma alone.

I have spent the past twelve years building a global network of people helping each other overcome the terrible cost of war—helping “victims” become “survivors.” In over 116,000 peer visits across the war-torn regions of the world, we have learned a few things about what separates those who lie down and embrace their suffering, and those who rise above, rebuild their lives, and rejoin their communities.

Survivors who successfully overcome traumatic injuries follow five basic steps. First, they Face Facts. These people don’t run from the truth of what’s happened to them. They don’t deny injuries, or disfigurement, or anger. They look at them, and incorporate them into their lives.

Second, they consciously Choose Life. It is crucial to remind ourselves and each other why life is worth living. Rising suicide rates must be addressed head on, because most of these individuals don’t want to die as much as they want their pain and despair to end.

Third, true survivors Reach Out. They reject isolation and divisiveness. They know that, to move out of a war victim mentality and onto the path of positive survivorship, they must drop their shell of anger and resentment.

Fourth, survivors have to Get Moving. Those traumatized by war, whatever the condition of their bodies, must get active. We all must take responsibility to do what it takes to “get in shape” for whatever the future may hold.

The fifth—and perhaps most crucial key to resilience and recovery—is to Give Back. Survivors recognize that it’s better to be a benefactor, not just a beneficiary. Everyone can have a role to play and contribute in big and small ways to our families and neighborhoods. To the veterans who served in war, I say learn to serve again. Become active members of your communities. Show your strength, creativity and work ethic to your friends and neighbors. You may look different, you may feel different, but you can still contribute.

And to the United States, as we struggle to recover from the war trauma we experience as a nation, I offer the same practical advice: Face Facts. Choose Life. Reach Out. Get Moving. Give Back. Families and citizens remain divided over whether we should have gone into Iraq in the first place. The Revolutionary War was no different—many wanted to avoid war or align with England. (Benjamin Franklin's own son, William, the Governor of New Jersey, remained loyal to Britain throughout the war, as did nearly 20% of the colonists.) But at the end of the war, then as now, we emerge as Americans.

When we can admit our imperfections and share our strength as survivors, as Americans, we are united. Certainly, as victims of war we have pain. We know loss and sacrifice. But we are still strong. Because it is more than just pain that unites us. It is our shared hope for humanity—our ability to overcome—that binds us together.

I am convinced that within each human being lies an inextinguishable flame, an irrepressible voice whose refrain is unmistakable: I choose freedom. I will not choose to hate, to wallow in self-pity, to retaliate. I instead choose to live, to thrive. I believe that this is the American way. Some say we are becoming less resilient and more cynical as a nation. And, if we keep making excuses and pushing our responsibilities to each other away, that is the path we will be on. But, I think we are better than that. I believe strength and generosity can be found within each and every one of us.

So, let’s honor our Day of Independence by uniting in empathy and support for families struggling with fresh wounds. El fic en cuestión está titulado "El Caos de Afrodita" y es un crossover entre Saint Seiya y Sailor Moon; y que además es un fic que una amiga y hermana muy querida (Aino-san o Mina Zuster) me pidió por meses hasta que decidí hacerlo pero sólo alcanzó a leer unos 3 capítulos o 4 porque el cáncer ganó su batalla y finalmente falleció el 2 de Agosto de 2007. El punto no es todo lo anterior, pero sí es importante mencionarlo para poder saber el contexto, entenderlo y conocer el porqué de este escrito el día de hoy, sí ya sé que he dejado pasar mucho tiempo pero tampoco mi salud es la mejor y no soy nada buena cuidándome, pero bueh...

Regresando al tema de mi hermana Asagi... ¡Ah sí!, pues verán llevó el tema y me citó los dichosos flames y de verdad que estaba muy enojada por la situación, al principio lo tomé como tomo estas cosas, sin importancia, pero una vez recordando todo lo que el fic representa para mí y el hecho delenorme trabajo que me estaba costando hacerlo por ser mi primer crossover sí que me encendí, al principio me enojé y sí, lloré de pura rabia ¿porqué no admitirlo? ¡Estaba verdaderamente furiosa! ¿Cómo demonios se atrevía alguien que ni sabía nada de lo que pasa por mi cabeza al escribir cualquier cosa a amenazarme e insultarme de esa infantil y estúpida manera? ¿Quién demonios se creía que era para darme órdenes y además decir que estaba enferma de la cabeza?

Así que me decidí y fui a fanfiction.net de nuevo, leí cuidadosamente los dichosos reviews, que aparentaban ser de 2 personas diferentes, y lo comenté con mi mejor amiga y hermana kanon Zuster, ella me dijo que estaba bien que me enojara pero no valía la pena porque al final de cuentas estúpidos habría en todos lados; y lamentable pero cierto, el que se dedica a dejar flames en cualquier obra es un estúpido sin oficio ni beneficio porque generalmente lo hacen para fastidiar al prójimo, porque si fueran personas racionales expresarían su punto de vista sin necesidad de ofensas ni amenazas. La inteligencia de alguien para expresar su perspectiva al respecto de algo es una enorme cualidad, quien insulta y amenaza es porque piensa con el estómago y sólo vomita texto o palabras y ciertamente yo no soy así. ¡Claro! que si me tocas a las personas que quiero voy a escupir mucha porquería pero eso no significa, PARA NADA, que piense4 con el estómago y además tenga una verborrea asquerosa el 100% del tiempo, para eso tenemos "flamers de oficio" que parece ser que a eso se dedican, a joder, a insultar, a sacar de quicio a los demás aderezando su "ardua labor" con amenazas estúpidas y frases típicas de "estás enfermo(a)/estúpido(a)/imbécil".

Una vez que me calmé y razoné las cosas llegué a la conclusión de no rebajarme a tan infrahumano nivel y utilizar sus mismas armas para responderle. Existe una gran diferencia entre esa clase de gente y mi persona, porque para empezar yo ya tengo un título universitario y 4 años de experiencia laboral, tengo también experiencias de vida que me dan un cierto nivel de madurez que quizás esta persona no posee, y si lo posee en su lugar me dedicaría a algo útil porque lo que hace es verdaderamente estúpido. Y no dudo para nada que existan flamers que tengan hasta más de 30 años y con maestrías incluso, pero acá esto hablaría de una nula madurez y de una estupidez latente.

Regresando al tema, citaré los famosos flames y responderé uno a uno, debido a que mi estimada Roxy/Sandy no me permití contestarte tus locuras, y también tengo algo más que aclarar, estudié Historia querida y mi gran pasión es la mitología Greco-Romana, así que tú dirás, voy a responderte y espero que la próxima vez que decidas molestar a alguien con tus obesiones lo pienses y mejor hagas algo útil...

De una vez aclaro que la mayoría de los reviews dejados por esta persona fueron de forma anónima, para que se vea el grado de valentía...

A ver, sí entendemos lo que es un UA ¿no? porque si no investiga, bien un Universo Alterno nos da las facilidades, sobre todo en crossovers, para unir dos Universos diferentes y así poder hacer una trama (quizás muy fantasiosa) pero más lógica para unirlas.

Sobre tu referencia mitológica ¿te basaste en el Tenkai-hen, verdad? porque si supieras el mínimo de mitología griega sabrías en las generaciones de dioses se componen por 3 principales de las que surgen más, empenzando por Gea y Urano, pasando por Cronos y Rea y terminando con Zeus y Hera. La generación de enmedio se llaman titanes o dioses antiguos/no olímpicos, dentro de esta generación se halla unos hermanos gemelos llamados Helios (dios-Sol) y Selene (diosa-Luna) y para no hacerte largo el cuento, porque si te interesa deberías investigarlo tú, Artemisa fue relacionada con la Luna gracias a Apolo que fue identificado con Helios en la obra de Eurípides llamada "Faetón" en la que se le llama a Helios "Apolón" que significa destructor, ésto porque Clímene le recrimina a Helios haber destruido a su hijo Faetón y de ahí los griegos comenzaron a relacionar a Apolo con Helios y si Apolo también tenía una hermana gemela llamada Artemisa, entonces ella sería identificada también como la diosa de la Luna, pero originalmente es la diosa de la caza. Ahora, la próxima vez que salgas con un argumento así primero investiga o pregunta porque salir con babosadas así basadas en un anime nada más se me hace patético.

Si hubiera sido una persona decente al expresarme su descontento, desde un inicio, la habría tomado ens erio, pero sus último reviews, a mi modo de ver, no fueron más que patadas de ahogado, que ya una vez que vió que hizo el ridículo ahora quiere parecer reformada y hasta tiernita, la "perdonada" queda, pero definitivamente es que espero Roxy/Sandy que no vuelvas a cometer esta clase de idioteces porque t denigran y ridiculizan, te hacen ver una persona totalmente irracional y explosiva, una cosa es que te guste Saint Seiya, a mí también y otra es estar obsesionado y defender a los personajes como si de mis hijos se tratase.

Some say we are becoming less resilient and more cynical as a nation. And, if we keep making excuses and pushing our responsibilities to each other away, that is the path we will be on. But, I think we are better than that. I believe strength and generosity can be found within each and every one of us.

So, let’s honor our Day of Independence by uniting in empathy and support for families struggling with fresh wounds. In our mutual survivorship, there is no “us” and “them”—no civilian versus military, democrat versus republican, victim versus survivor. We are united in our commitment to one another. Choose resilience and optimism. Choose to reach out to those who are suffering. Let our lost loved ones, and their memories, cheer us onward and upward. And as fireworks explode behind the Washington Monument this July 4^th, let it commemorate and shout out America’s characteristic optimism and can-do confidence that we can and will overcome this “plague of mankind.”

I-Spy a Ralpho or otherwise known as just plain old Ralph is everyone's favorite.  He was purchased as a week old buckling from Mandi Ziegler near Pittsburgh, Pa.  Immediately, he stole the show around here.  Cute, cuddly, and handsome.  He was born on my birthday...April 5thwhich gives him a special place in my heart as well.  Two years ago he gave me all boys.  This past fall, I had a long talk with him over a couple slices of bread and an apple (his favorite treats).  "Listen here stud muffin...I want girls this year.  Drop dead, gorgeous, show stopping little ladies.  Give them excellent conformation, udders, and milk ability.  No faults whatsoever, flashy, spots, and excellent personalities.  Got it?  Understand where I am coming from?"  Of course, he didn't answer me but he did give me more girls than boys this year and although they aren't "perfect in every way", they are beautiful, can hold their own in any ADGA show, and have wonderful personalities just like their Daddy.  Ralph is also an excellent Daddy, allowing his 3 month old sons to share his grain and hay with him.  He also snuggles for afternoon naps with them and they like using him as a spring board to jump off of.  That's my Ralph, you just gotta love him!

*B Saada Blue Flame or as we call him "Flame" was purchased this past winter.  Katie and I have always coveted the Saada Nubians (www.saadagoats.com).  They are just beautiful animals.  We have one doe, Countess, who is from the Saada herd and always wanted to get a buck.  After being on a waiting list, saving her 4H money for two years, she finally got her chance to purchase her first Saada buck.  Flame is also another gentle giant.  I don't know what he will be like in full rut but he absolutely loves living here.  He has a blast running, jumping, and playing in the boys pasture.  He brings all those Saada genetics that we love and can't wait to see what his babies are like.  Flame has one champion leg earned last year. 

SMVF Vincenzio or Vince as we call him is from our doe Saada Royal Countess and Ralph.  He is the best of both worlds so to speak.  He was bred to our I Spy a Gem and unfortunately gave us two drop dead show stopping boys.  One with spots and one without!  All we kept saying is WOW are they ever nice babies.  Although Vince is nothing to look at so to speak, he at least throws beautiful babies.  We are planning on repeating the same breeding this year in hopes for girls this time.  I guess I need to feed him a few slices of bread and an apple while giving him the "listen here bucko" talk.  Worked on Ralph, hopefully it will work with him also.

Royal Colors CM Alamo X, better known as Malamo is our one and only Saanen buck.  He is from Todd Biddle's herd in Lancaster Co. Pa.  Another sweetie, spoiled rotten lover boy.  He gave us three girls and two boys this past spring.  All were very nice.  Both boys were sold as intact bucks as well.  His one daughter took two Grand Champions and another daughter took two Reserve Grand Champions at their first ADGA show.  That put a huge smile on Mikey's face and won Malamo an extra scoop of grain that night.  Everyone loves Malamo's "perm" (see pic).  We will be on the lookout for another buck come next spring to breed to Malamo's daughters.

Lucky Clover's Danny Boy AKA Danny Boy.  Also known as sweetiepea, handsome man, lover boy, and on and on (can you tell I love this little guy?).  Yep, he has stolen my heart!  He is out of Clover which is our best doe in my opinion.  Clover had triplets this year, two boys and a girl.  All three were just beautiful and we were sooo excited!!!!  Unfortunately we lost the little girl (see post "St. Patrick got his goat back").  I kept looking at the two boys and saying, "you two should have been girls".  I decided to keep them both and wether one as a companion buddy for the other.  I kept looking them over and over, trying to decide who I should keep intact.  I picked Danny but it was a close call.  I asked Vince who he would pick.  I told him I picked one and just want to see if you pick the same one as it was a difficult decision for me.  It was hard for him to decide also but he picked Danny Boy as well.  I just can't wait for his kids.  I am so excited to see what he gives us.  Danny Boy has the neatest personality.  Any female that comes here seems to be drawn to him.  He is constantly hugged and kissed.  Mikey says he can't believe what a "chick magnet" that goat is.  Everyone loving on him and saying how "handsome and cute" he is.  He's special and he's not going anywhere unless of course he throws goats with three eyes or something.

All the boys will get the "talk" this year and threatened with the removal of their manhood unless they produce females.  All are spoiled rotten but are gentle giants as well.  Personality is important to us.  Any 200 to 300lbs animal that isn't gentle with me and the kids goes down the road.  I refuse to be afraid of them, have my children hurt, or have to worry about my bad back when handling them.  In return, they are given their own nice large pasture and barn to live in.  We treat the boys just as well as the girls.  They get the same attention...brushing, trimming, feed, toys, treats, etc.  I think handling them regularly has helped to keep them happy, healthy, and gentle.  I just walk into their pasture and give a holler..."Handsome boys" and they all come running.  Now if I could only train my husband to be the same way!

We live in an amazing world where nothing seems to work perfectly and everyone's overly happy to point it out to you. Not just at work any more -- sure, this new software rollout has all the hallmarks of a FUBAR-in-progress; in photography, there's plenty of folks ready to jump down your throat when you don't agree with their viewpoint or brand -- witness the often juvenile discourse on dpreview.com. Bicycles, mountain climbing, purses, schools; everything has a ranking, giving everyone a pecking order.

Folks have told me that you shouldn't carry birds on your shoulder, in that the bird, seeing you at eye-level, thinks it's at least your equal. Me, I often make the mistake of wrestling with dogs on the floor, which leads to a lot of slobber, loose fur, and all too often, what seems like a reluctance to follow my commands crisply ("Well, okay ... I guess."). It's too easy to drag ourselves down to gutter level and wallow in the same mud we fling because I'm right, you're right, the whole darned human race is right about something. It's like driving a car: we may talk up a mean blue streak behind the wheel, disconnected from face-to-face contact, but turn the two antagonists into a room together and some social pleasantries will be employed.

Spend enough time on message forums and you'll see the same dramas play themselves out, repeatedly. I'm not saying there aren't valid arguments, or that no one learns from the other side, just that the flexibility and patience we expect to receive we too often deny to others. Make your point. But make your point with reason, and learn to argue intelligently. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to say "I told you so."

Meinungen auszutauschen ist von vornherein natürlich etwas gutes, aber werden wirklich Meinungen ausgetauscht oder doch nur Standpunkte blind gegengepostet.

Kennst du das auch?

Man ist gerade dabei etwas in sachlichen Worten zu formulieren, und in ein Forum zu posten, schickt es dann aber doch nicht ab.

Weil man durch die Erfahrung weiß, 90% der Forenuser nehmen die Argumente gar nicht auf sondern posten blind die eigene Meinung nochmals.

Und gerade in meinem Interessensgebiet PC,Konsolen,Spiele und Unterhaltung scheinen sich die größten ........... der Welt versammelt zu haben.

Früher habe ich mich gerne mit den Leute unterhalten, und Beiträge geschrieben.

Heute will ich zwar auch noch daran teilnehmen, aber von 10 Beiträgen die ich wirklich oder gedanklich schreibe, schicke ich vieleicht 4 dann auch weg.

Die anderen 6 werden gelöscht und auf die Back Taste gedrückt.

Ich will diesen zitierten Beitrag zwar beantworten, denke mir dann aber, nö der kapiert es sowieso nicht. Auch wenn man es ihm 100mal hinschreibt.

Jetzt bin ich natürlich nicht der oberschlaueste, und alle anderen sind die Idioten.

Nein natürlich nicht, habe sicher auch schon den ein oder anderen zu einem "was ist den das für ein Idiot" hinreißen lassen.

Es gibt in diesen Thread auch oft den Post in der ein oder anderen Form:

Leute warum haut ihr euch die Köpfe ein. Jeder kann doch spielen was er will, ob Ps3,Wii,Xbox360 oder was auch immer. Kauft was ihr wollt, und zockt was euch Spass macht, und macht hier keine Flames gegen andere Konsolen. Das hat doch keinen Sinn.

Das stimmt zwar 100%, aber solche Postings haben meiner Meinung auch keinen Sinn.

Werden nur von denen wahrgenommen die sowie der gleichen Meinung sind. Alle anderen überspringen sowas einfach.

Bei normalen Themen funktoniert dieser Meinungstausch, eigentlich super. Und dort werde ich mich auch schön weiterbeteiligen.

Flamewars werden eigentlich nur noch zur Erheiterung gelesen.

Meine persönliche Sichtweise.

I borrowed this idea from our Norwegian friend Feanare. I think hers turned out better, though. Artists often nurture and inspire one another and imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I hope she doesn't mind. This shot is in a little glass blowing shop in Juneau. The special shades allow one to see more detail through the flame and melting glass.
