ABC News' Eloise Harper Reports: Rumors are swirling over whether or not former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is secretly planning a run for the presidency in 2012.

Clinton aides have stressed that Sen. Clinton's, D-N.Y., focus now is doing everything she can to help her party's presumptive presidential nominee, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., emerge victorious in his race for the White House.

This week Clinton sent her donors an email noting that she would welcome contributions of general election funds they donated to her presidential campaign to her 2012 Senate bid. General election funds are traditionally returned to donors if the candidate loses in the primary race. Clinton's campaign is required to return this money to donors by August 28th. With that deadline approaching, Clinton emailed her supporters offering them that option.

The catch? The funds from her Senate account could be transferred into a possible 2012 bid for presidency, if Clinton decides to run.

pokesperson Mo Elleithee attempting to debunk the rumors that Clinton is preparing for a 2012 run said to ABC News, "The only 2012 race she is interested in is her Senate reelection bid."

If there is anything about politics that I don’t quite understand, it is the way EU funds work

If there is anything about politics that I don't quite understand, it is the way EU funds work. From what I have heard so far, cities, towns, villages, municipalities, firms, businesses.... GET money from them all the time.

A small Czech village needs a water treatment facility. And bang, all of a sudden the money somehow appears out of nowhere and they can start building so that almost totally clean water comes out of it to a nearby river.

The City of Brno will get close to 100 million CZK for park renovation. Old dead bushes will disappear, there will be new trees, new paths, new lawns and who knows, maybe a new pétanque spot. And the second largest Czech city which of course has more money than a small village will get the money from EU funds.

And so one has to wonder how come officials and other EU bureaucrats managed to find this money and why they gave it to a prosperous city, when there must be hundreds of smaller municipalities all over Europe, especially in Bulgaria or Romania, where they need much more important...necessities. Like public plumbing networks, for instance.

Former Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno said Malacañang should consider shelving big projects, like international airports in provinces, for the next 18 months.

“The focus should be on job creation and on the maintenance of existing infrastructure,” Diokno said during the Budget Advocacies for Media forum Friday.

He identified the country’s irrigation system as among various pieces of infrastructure that should be maintained and rehabilitated.

“If the government rehabilitates all canal and irrigation systems, that’s already P20 billion. That’s equivalent to the annual losses of the NFA (National Food Authority),” Diokno said.

Former National Treasurer Leonor Briones, who now heads Social Watch Philippines, echoed Diokno’s views on agriculture, asserting that the country should start being self-sufficient in rice production.

Lim Kit Siang said this on his blog.

The two self-administered “police black-eyes” in the past week raises the question whether the Royal Police Commission set up in the early months of the Abdullah premiership and which made 125 recommendations to create an efficient, incorruptible, professional world-class police service – with its most important recommendation for an Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) – has turned out to be a total waste of time, resources and funds!

This is nothing new in Malaysia. A lot of the rakyat's money has gone to waste and to the pockets of the undeserved. Highways were built but not for the access of the rakyat. The KL-Putrajaya highway, now known as the MEX highway, is only accessible to the rich and mighty. It passes by a lot of housing areas, and it should bring conveniences to the rakyat. It also have the potential to ease traffic jams at certain housing areas at where it pass by. However, it was denied totally. "See no touch" is how some of these rakyat describe it. Applications, appeals, were made again and again, yet the authorities has closed their eyes to the immediate needs of the rakyat. Our government indeed has misused public funds for the unnecessary. Lack of wisdom and discretion is what I call it.

I so want to see Pakatan Rakyat seige power. May it come soon....

In a very interesting development, it seems that Hillary is leaving her options option for 2012... you know, just in case the Precious doesn't win after all.

She sent out a letter to her contributors that was fairly standard, asking permission to roll their contribution from her 2008 GE fund to her Senate campaign fund.

If you read the form carefully, an intersting little tidbit pops up...

http://www.observer.com/2008/politics/hillary-clinton-asks-keep-donor-money-2012

Hillary Clinton's campaign is sending out letters to donors asking permission to roll a $2,300 contribution to Clinton's 2008 general election coffers to her 2012 senate election fund instead of offering a refund.

The letter, read to me by one recipient, includes a photocopy of a handwritten note from Clinton that says, "Dear friend, your commitment has meant so much to me over the course of my presidential campaign. You were there for me when I needed you the most and I'll never forget it. I hope you'll help me continue to fight for the issues and causes we believe in by filling out the enclosed form in support of Friends of Hillary."

The form says, "I hereby verify that my 2008 general election contribution may be designated to the 2012 Senate election. I designate the entire amount to the 2012 primary election. However if I have already contributed to the 2012 primary, I designate any amount in excess of $2,300 to the 2012 general election."

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The U.S. Senate's proposed transportation budget for 2009 contains $18 million for expanding Charlotte's light-rail system. That's $8 million more than the Charlotte Area Transit System requested. The proposed 11-mile rail line extension would run from Ninth Street in uptown Charlotte to Interstate 485 on the northeast side of town.

The federal money would be used for preliminary engineering and assessing the environmental impact of construction and operation of the transit line.

"This is great news for the Lynx Blue Line extension and residents of the Charlotte region as we continue to provide them with more transportation choices," says Keith Parker, chief executive of CATS. "While we do not expect the transportation appropriations legislation to be enacted until after the presidential election in November, and there is no guarantee that the funding level will hold, this is a step in the right direction."

If the $18 million is approved, CATS will have received capital funding commitments of $40 million since March for bus, rail and rapid-transit projects. The funding has come from a range of sources, including the N.C. Department of Transportation, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Transit Administration.

The light rail extension would be a continuation of the 9-mile track that parallels South Boulevard from I-485 near Pineville to uptown Charlotte.

Investors continued to move their wealth into money market funds in June to avoid market volatility,

Investors continued to move their wealth into money market funds in June to avoid market volatility, the Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC) said Tuesday.

The group's monthly report on mutual funds contains a number of statistics showing the popularity of money market funds, investments in short-term loans often seen as a safe harbour or a place to "park" money when markets are uncertain.

According to IFIC, in June:

Money market funds ballooned to $70.1 billion from $48.7 billion in June 2007.Net sales (sales less redemptions) of all funds were $1.6 billion; money market funds accounted for three-quarters of the total.Investors have put $19.3 billion into money market funds in the past year, compared with $4.2 billion in the previous year.

While money market investments rose, the sales and values of long-term funds fell.

Assets of such funds were $630.1 billion in June, down from $650.7 billion in May, reflecting the fall in stock markets.

Long-term fund sales were $398 million in June, down from $752 million in May and almost $2 billion in June 2007.

Sales in the year ended June were $3.8 billion, compared with $30.9 billion in the year ended June 2007.

Total assets in funds were $700.1 billion in June, down from $719.3 billion in May. The drop was due to market falls, the IFIC said.

For the past decade, vertical funds have been the new “hook” in development aid. Does this mean that they are a fad that will soon be replaced by another trend, rendered as outdated as conditionality? Or are they simply the current expression of our constantly evolving knowledge on development aid? The debate on vertical funds is reaching an all-time high, with calls for certain vertical funds to be completely dismantled, and others who claim they are the only means in the fight against some of the most serious global issues in history.

How else could polio have been largely erradicated? How else could millions of people been place on anti-retroviral treatment?

Yet, how are we going to help countries to manage such programs on their own in the future?

This debate is a necessary path in the evolution of our knowledge. Let’s keep discussing this until the debate itself has become outdated.

the King Children are fighting for control of their parents' estate and they're taking it to court!

According to Documents released on the "Smoking Gun", Both Bernice King and Martin Luther King III allege that their brother Dexter (who is the president of the Estate of Martin Luther King Jr. corporation) is misappropriating funds! They claim that he's transferring money to his personal accounts and withholding information from them. All three Kings are shareholders in the company but with it's current leadership in a deadlocked "2 on 1" management battle, the company is falling into "disarray."

I have nothing to say about this other than "get it together!"
First of all the King legacy is one of honor, valor, strength and dedication. Dr. King and Mrs. Coretta Scott King were more than leaders they were examples of what it truly means to stand up for what's right, please don't allow anything to tarnish that legacy for yourselves!

On a personal note.(And this part is for anybody) I have no siblings, I am sibling free. There are times that I wished I had a brother or a sister to go through the hard times with me. To laugh about our childhood, to deal with our parents, To help with my Grandparents, to just be an understanding ear. But I don't have that. I have friends and cousins and they are a blessing but they're not siblings. Just a while ago my favorite video-Blogger B. Scott, was mourning the loss of his sister and how much he just wanted to talk to her.

I said all that to say this. Cherish the family you have above money! I'm not blaming anyone or claiming to be on anyone's side but I really hope you all sort this out, out of court, without getting ugly, without putting your family's business out. This family has experienced enough involuntary loss ( their father, mother and just last year Yolanda King, their oldest sister passed on) please don't choose to lose each other.

The City of Pensacola should pledge general revenue funds to back a $40-million bond issue for the Community Maritime Park.

The city originally had planned to use money from the Community Redevelopment Agency — a special district that uses property taxes paid by downtown residents to address slum and blight — to repay the proposed $40 million bond issue.

A Florida Supreme Court ruling in September, however, halted those plans when it ruled in an unrelated case that voter approval is required when property taxes from special districts are used to repay bond issues.

he new proposal would pledge city general revenue funds not generated by property taxes as collateral on the debt. The funds could include revenues from franchise fees, communications services taxes or public service taxes generated through utility fees.

The general fund has already taken a hit, because of statewide property tax reform approved by Florida voters on Jan. 29. The city is in the process of implementing a 30-month plan to cut $4.7 million from its general fund. Preliminary plans call for cutting 122 city employee positions through retirements and attrition, and streamlining departments and services.

In November voters could approve another round of property tax cuts that could reduce city revenues even further.

BUt my question is where will the funds come from to try and end the blight that is festering in the city?

Rafael Benitez has promised there will be at least one new big-name striker at Liverpool before the start of the season but admits he has no idea when the Gareth Barry saga will be concluded.

The Liverpool boss has admitted his exasperation at the drawn-out campaign to prise Barry from Aston Villa, which shows no sign of ending.

And the Spaniard has also revealed the growing financial problems he is having in the transfer market.

He admits that Tottenham skipper Robbie Keane is a target, but although he is also a big fan of Valencia and Spain striker David Villa, a move seems unlikely.

Benitez admitted: "We know the situation regarding what we can spend, and we are tying to find solutions if we do not have enough money.

"And we will still try to sign players that will make us better. But if you do not have too much money, and that is clear, we will have to have a little bit of imagination to progress in the market.

"Everyone knows what our ideas are and what players we want. We are working hard with different names now, and at the moment that is not (David) Villa.

"We will have another main striker before the season starts, maybe two."

Benitez has also dropped a hint that Xabi Alonso might be leaving Anfield in the summer if the club received the right offer. However, he added Alonso could be staying if Juventus decide not to follow up on the move.

“The situation with Alonso has not changed. Juventus made an offer that was not good enough and now we are just waiting,” he said.

“I do not know, really, whether that will go through.”

“Xabi wants to stay because he is happy here but he also knows that Juventus is a top side.”

“I have talked to him, he knows my ideas and he knows why. So we will try to find a solution for him, for us, and the best for the club.”

Republican Gov. Haley Barbour said Tuesday he's puzzled why the House Democratic leadership is against a tax that amounts to less than one percent of a hospital's gross revenue but brings six times that amount in federal funds back to the medical centers.Fighting continues over ways to fund a recurring $90 million Medicaid shortfall, caused by a federal government mandate that the state change the way it funds its match of federal Medicaid dollars. Barbour wants to raise the hospital tax, but Democrats say the cost will be passed to patients and they instead support a combination of a cigarette tax and smaller hospital bed tax - half of Barbour's - to fund the shortfal

But Barbour said the House's failure to pass his proposal threatens the program in the short term and that various House plans would eventually lead to taxpayers being hit with higher Medicaid bills

Prior to the change mandated by the federal government, Mississippi taxpayers were essentially footing more of the bill for matching federal dollars, Barbour said. Hospitals, for every dollar put up, were receiving $12 back from Medicaid. Barbour says that under his tax increase proposal, hospitals would still get $6 back for every $1 they spend.

To date, the price tag for the ongoing special legislative session to deal with Medicaid has easily eclipsed $500,000 and continues to grow. But Barbour said he doesn't know what the holdup is, as the Mississippi Hospital Association has endorsed the hospital tax plan he supports, which includes lucrative reimbursements for the hospitals.

Senate Bill 2013, sponsored by Public Health and Welfare Chairman Sen. Hob Bryan, D-Amory, and Sen. Terry Burton, R-Newton, would raise the tax on hospitals to just over one half of a percent of their gross revenues. It passed the Senate in May in a 41-7 bipartisan Senate vote, but so far has not been taken up by the Democratic House leadership.

This summer, working as a marketing intern at a wealth management firm doing marketing, I've seen and learned a lot about the different facets of this booming industry. In fact, I'm actually starting to think that maybe marketing is the part I've actually explored the least.

Wealth management marketing seems to be pretty straightforward: savvy media presence, extensive private seminars, and endless networking. It really is one of those fields that is more about who you know than what you know. With the sheer number of Structured Investment Products (SIPS), portfolio optimizers, financial planning software, and all the jive - it is extremely difficult to royally screw over a client. I'm not saying that it doesn't happen, but it's more easily avoidable now, than ever. And with an additional 10-20 trillion dollars poised to enter the high net worth market in the next 20 years, it's a great field to work in.

I've had a chance to explore some financial strategies, such as tax-loss harvesting and long-term, non-sector specific mutual fund investing. But, I plan to talk about that in a future post.

Mutual funds never really interested me much until this summer, when I had the opportunity to work for a firm that specializes in and tries to work exclusively with mutual funds. I had never considered them to be an exciting investment strategy, but the combination of my coworkers' knowledge of funds and endless hours of research on Morningstar have caused these investments to grow on me, even though they're not growing in value at the moment!

Even in terms of what to look for in stocks-studying funds can help you get a good idea of what kinds of stocks are performing well, so you maximize your chances of picking stocks of the right kind, in the right sector. For example, if you looked at the best performing funds in the last three months you'd see 99% of them being either small or mid cap funds. Traditionally, small and mid cap stocks outperform large cap stocks during a recessive period. You could then, if you are choosing to hold long positions, plug your money into Cowen Group versus Goldman Sachs during the recession. To see their three-month comparison, click here.

Last Friday, I had a chance to talk to a pro about expanding business for wealth managers, both by adding new clients and increasing funds from existing clients. It was a truly enlightening call and provided me with tangible ideas and scripts to implement in conversations I may, one day, have with clients and prospects.

I'm having a great summer thus far and I'm sure it will only get better from here on out as I get exposed to and absorb more and more knowledge every day. I think I'll ask them to change my title from Marketing Intern to Everything-Under-The-Sun Intern.

Service Based Debt Relief Program

Absolute is now proud to offer a unique debt relief program we call "Service Based Debt Relief".
This program offers the lowest risk to the consumer as this program fee is based on debt settlement performance.

Service Based Debt Relief offers a free consultation to evaluate all viable options for debt relief. Durring this process we go over the condition and current status of all potential accounts to enroll. At this time we discuss the potential debt relief you may realize on each account.

If approved into the program we'll provide you with Settlement Authorization Forms for each enrolled account. This is where you will find a very unique way of assuring that you receive a risk free service. The Settlement Authorization Form allows for a percentage-based amount of authorized settlement.

Sample Service Based Debt Relief Program:

If we agree to set the parameter at 60% of the balance of the particular account that you would like settled ($6,000 settling $10,000). Absolute Debt Solutions, Inc. would have to at least obtain or better that figure before you would be liable for any fee for that particular account.
This is not a guarantee that the creditor will settle for this amount, only that if we do not reach this goal "you pay us no fees for that specific debt".
Your creditors will be asked to communicate with our office directly. Potentialy delivering you the immediate relief from any stress that you may have been experiencing from phone calls.

We coordinate and settle all of the accounts you choose at the same time. When you couple this strategy with the settlement authorization it creates a cut and dry potential solution.

After successful negotiations with each creditor, we obtain letters from them that outline the exact specifics of the settlements in writing. Once we receive each letter from each creditor you will pay each of them directly. As you hold all funds used for settlement, you have complete control of the program.

If we are unsuccessful in obtaining our debt relief goals and settlement amount we will provide you with that particular creditors best offer. You then have the option to settle on that account with out being liable for any fee to Absolute Debt Solutions for that specific account. You pay nothing if we are unable to reach our goal. We will then provide you with a letter from your creditor explaining the settlement along with instructions on where to send your final payment to.

We firmly believe that the decision you make about your current financial situation is a very important one. We think that it is extremely important for you to have the ability to make an informed decision, a well educated decision, so you make the right decision.

Our Service Based Debt Relief program is designed for those with resources available to settle their debts in less than 30-60 or 90 days.

Acceptable accounts include:

Unsecured personal debts

Medical debt

Credit Card Debt

Bank loans

Store Cards

Legal Fees

If you have filed bankruptcy and the court dismissed your case, this debt relief program may also be for you.

Fees:

Absolute Debt Solutions, Inc. Charges no fees to evaluate the options for its consumers who wish to investigate their debt relief needs.

Under the Service Based Debt Relief Program our fees are based on the "amount saved" not amount owed. The amount charged is 20% of the amount saved. There are nomonthly service fees and noenrollment fees. Fees are paid to Absolute as each account is settled.

Example: If an enrolled debt is $10,000.00 and we settle it for 60% or $6,000.00 we saved you $4,000.00. Our fee is based on the $4,000.00 NOT THE FULL $10,000.00. Traditional debt settlement would cost you 15% of the $10,000.00 or $1,500.00. The cost in this example is the $6,000.00 and a fee of 800.00. This is $700.00 less than a traditional debt relief program allowing more of your funds to be used for debt relief.

This debt relief program is simple:

We simply offer years of experience in negotiation of your debt. You can try it yourself, but understand there are risks and things to look for in completing your transaction. As we do not allow accounts in the program where you can afford the payment or pay off, a cleint in this program has already taken their hits on the credit reports. All there is left to do is settle.

Knowing when the creditor is at its lowest offer is PRICELESS.

Well, it has been over thirty years since I had ridden a bike, but I thought why am I taking my grandchildren to ride their bikes at the park and just sit there when we all could be enjoying bike riding together.

We started down by the park in shickshinny, pa. It was great! You didn't feel like you were too close to the road and most of the path we road our bikes on was shaded and a really nice view, quiet, relaxing and one of the best bike rides we have had.

We appreciate all the hard work that has gone into this project many years of planning and acquiring the funds, etc. We believe that it was well worth it. From what I understand it goes from by the Garden Drive-In clear to Mocanaqua and will eventually connect to the hiking trails there.

Shopping for a new home is much easier when you have already secured a pre-approved loan. Knowing that you will have the funds available when you find the perfect house is a very comforting thought for you. On the other hand, it can be heartbreaking to see your dream home slip away because you can’t properly secure the funds in a timely manner. When you get a pre-approved loan you have a definite price range to operate within and then you can begin to research the real estate market for your home.

When you positively know what you want in a house and you also know exactly how much you can afford to spend, it is much easier to look for your home. This also makes it an easier project for an agent to assist you with. Some people spend months looking through several houses in various locations and in different price ranges. You need to have a better grasp on the situation and if you have a pre-approved loan for the mortgage expenses you will be better off.
Knowing how much you can spend can help you decide whether you want a newly constructed home or one that needs some repairs or upgrades. Having pre-approval on funds to assist in the purchase of the perfect home for you will help to keep you from being forced to settle for less.

Your real estate agent will know exactly what you can afford and what can be offered to the original owner as a fair market price. When you have a pre-approved loan status, you will be more attractive to several agencies because it increases the chances that you will provide them with a commission through the purchase of a house. A pre-approved home mortgage loan will give you the potential power to close on the deal for a home more quickly. This can easily be the most profitable reason to get pre-approval. Most of the agents anticipate more than one bid on a property and you will have a more competitive edge with the pre-approval status. The seller will also know you will be able to close on a house without waiting for loan approval. You may be able to walk away from the bidding process with the house for less money when the other bidders have not secured a pre-approved loan.

Financial boundaries are very beneficial to people who are involved in something that has long-term consequences. Buying a house is the type of long-term commitment that needs a definite financial boundary. A pre-approved mortgage loan gives the necessary boundaries that permit you to go out and buy your family home. You will have the reassurance of a preset limit on what is going to be spent on the home. You will get a wonderful sense of doing the right thing as far as financial planning for your family and the home that shelters them.

The fact that you will be saving time, energy and a lot of frustration and perhaps even some money will be a clear package of benefits you will receive from obtaining a pre-approved home mortgage loan.
