Recently I heard a lot about holistic approach to life: meaning something like the union of body and

Recently I heard a lot about holistic approach to life: meaning something like the union of body and mind/spirit/soul; these are simply one complex and they co-exist and influence each other.

In my search for excellence, I sometimes forgot about my body - simply looking for spiritual growth and my body was just "an animal within". However, last week I was talking to a friend and she said that it's very important to receive your body as it is, with all its limitations and imperfections.

When I was then lying in the forest, I somehow got that feeling: this is my body. Funnily enough, Jesus also said: This is my body. My body is maybe the only thing I really own, and yet still I am not able to control it fully. However, still can I look after it well, I should give it what it needs, the right food, physical activity, sleep etc. so that it can serve me well.

So coming back to the union, I would say we need to look after both - body and spirit. And as everything is viewed, heard and felt through our body - let's make healthy choices, go to nature and live a really full life!

BTW, when talking about being perfect - well, I believe God is the One who can make me perfect, I will never be in position to get there just on my own.

Okay, here we go. I have so many ideas and plans and they are swirling around in my head all at on

Okay, here we go. I have so many ideas and plans and they are swirling around in my head all at once so I start on one thing and then get distracted by other thoughts that lead me into something else... it will never end unless I seriously make a schedule for myself! Does anyone else who is a wise and mature person have to actually schedule their personal activities? It goes against everything in my to live by a schedule but I'm afraid it's the only way I'll get to the end of the summer and look back satisfied and happy at all I have experienced. Notice I said "experienced" and not "accomplished." This summer will be about enjoying the process, not reaching a goal. So, first thing on my list is to get organized which is highly laughable because my play room is a disaster. So, maybe first I need to clean, then get organized, hang up my cork tiles, make a list, schedule my reading time and meditation time and art time and inspiration time and shop time and gardening time. LOL.

My kitty is obsessed with tape. I have electrical tape and masking tape on my art table and if I leave it out, she licks it. She gets in my trash and steals little bits of tape to suck on. She also likes sucking on ribbon and licking my daughter's comforter. I was reading that kitties who are weaned too early can develop an oral fixation. So I guess we need a kitty shrink.

My upper back and shoulder hurt. I have no idea what I've done but the long day today had me in tears. I went to a chiropractor today and had some xrays taken. I also had a nerve stimulation treatment. They put electrodes around my shoulder and hooked me up to a machine that gives off little electrical vibrations. It weirded me out at first but as I got used to it, it felt really good. I go back Wednesday to find out what she sees on my xrays and what kind of treatment she recommends. This gal is into holistic medicine and does nutrition counseling and acupressure/acupuncture, too. I sure hope whatever she has to offer works better than what my medical doctor had to offer.

Gonna go slip into my PJs, have me a glass of wine and relax. Maybe work on my art journal a bit.

Have a peaceful evening.

Male Impotence Remedy- Does Increasing Circulation Cure Erectile Dysfunctions?

What male impotence remedy will you choose from? There are numerous remedies to try instead of erec

What male impotence remedy will you choose from? There are numerous remedies to try instead of erectile dysfunction pills; but, which one is the most effective cure? The answer for male impotence is circulation!

Did you know that erectile dysfunctions affect almost 30 million American men? And thankfully many of those men are doing something about it! Unfortunately, most men are turning to synthetic pills like Viagra and Levitra to cure their male impotence problem. Among many side effects, these E.D. pills are also hiding the real problem behind the impotence… circulation!

Before you see your doctor or order another prescription, have you considered the benefits of choosing one of the many male impotence remedies?

Why Pills Are Not the Answer!

If you are within 75 pounds of your ideal weight, you should not have to take erectile dysfunction pills! If you are at your ideal weight and are younger than the age of 65, you do not have to take erectile dysfunction pills either.

The problem with taking those colorful pills is that many men are simply ignoring the problem behind their impotence. More specifically, men are trying to treat their sex problem and forget about their health problem which could include high cholesterol, plaque build up, or low circulation.

The great news is that by naturally treating these health issues you could add years to your life, get back to your ideal weight, feel better and become a stallion in the bed again. How do I know this? Because recent research is pointing to the body's internal intelligence which allows itself to heal itself if giving the right tools.

And the right tools for a male impotence remedy are proper hydration, a healthy diet, core vitamins, specific supplements, breathing exercises for increasing circulation, and possibly various herbs that you probably have in your cupboard right now! If you add a 20 minute walk each day, you are almost guaranteed a permanent cure for any erectile dysfunction.

Natural Health is the Proven Cure

Natural Health and holistic treatments can be used interchangeable because they mean the same thing. Both of them use the body and various methods to tap the maximum health of each individual.

Have you ever seen a vehicle that wasn't properly maintained? I had a friend who accidentally filled up her car with diesel. The car made it 50 yards and stopped! My point is that you need to know that your body will also not work correctly if you are not putting the right fuels in it and properly maintaining it. This is the majority of the reason behind your impotence problem.

Here are a few natural health / holistic tips to get the most out of your body and pump circulation downstairs. You might even feel 20 years younger by next week!

Secrets from a Male Impotence Remedy

1. Circulation is Everything- You can learn some simple breathing exercises you can do anywhere at anytime. Doing these exercises for 5-10 minutes a day as shown to pump 15% more circulation downstairs (and to the rest of your body).

2. Water Flush- Have you done your annual water cleanse? You should train your body to drink water throughout the day! I drink half my weight in ounces each day! This took time to train my body to do this but it makes me feel 10 years younger and it cleans out your system. Water naturally flushes toxins, impurities, plaque, cholesterol and much more.

3. Core Vitamins- Are you taking a 'quality' multi-vitamin? A good place to start is with vitamin A. It has been documented that vitamin A deficiency is common about impotent men.

4. Gingko- This herb has been popular for many years. However, recently research is pointing to gingko's ability to increase circulation beneath the belt for men.

5. Aromatherapy- Have you ever remembered a familiar time or place from a distinct scent? Of course, because aromas have one of the greatest stimuli to the brain. With that said, Jasmine is often inhaled for its aphrodisiac qualities. Many natural health experts say that it acts directly on the brain, almost like a drug. We suggest a jasmine candle in the bedroom.

Dissolve a Kidney Stone- Can Kidney Stone Natural Remedies Really Work?

Thousands of people search ‘dissolve a kidney stone‘ each day and attempt to find the be

Thousands of people search 'dissolve a kidney stone' each day and attempt to find the best natural remedy for the pain they are feeling. If you are feeling the pain of a kidney stone, I have goods news and bad news!

The bad news is that you are probably feeling the worst pain of your life. The good news is that you can dissolve a kidney stone with simple home remedies that some doctors are now beginning to recommend.

But can kidney stone natural remedie really work?

Why Natural Remedies Can Work?

In many cases, natural remedies have been proven a hoax! But in other cases, natural remedies have been just as effective as their medical counterpart. For instance, recent research has uncovered that many natural remedies used centuries ago were actually legitimate and effective.

In the case of dissolving a kidney stone, researchers have found that kidney stones will often pass all by themselves. For this reason, doctors often recommend drinking lots of water and coming back in a week. Researchers have also uncovered that a diet rich in acids can actually help the body naturally dissolve the calcium based kidney stone(s).

In other words, many natural health doctors are using the body's internal intelligence to treat itself naturally. Another name for these natural remedies is holistic treatments because they use the 'whole' body to treat the problem.

Choosing the Best Natural Remedy?

My company has a combined 22 years of natural health experience and we often hear the same question, “What is the best natural remedy to choose?” And that is a great question. Being in the natural health field I know there is a lot of garbage out there and there is also a lot of quality information. How do you pick the right one?

I always tell people to look for guarantees, testimonials, experience and information! Usually you can sniff a 'fake' if it seems too good to be true and is not backed up by a notable source.

In the case of kidney stones, look for a natural remedy that uses hydration, acids and kidney stone prevention to treat the disease.

Dissolving Kidney Stones in Hours

Before stepping foot into a hospital, you should always attempt to naturally pass your kidney stones with an ample supply of water intake. I always drink half my body weight in ounces of water per day. In other words, if you weigh 200 lbs., you should be drinking at least 100 ounces of water per day. This will make you healthier and could help you pass your kidney stone(s).

You should also be consuming the correct acids which will help dissolve primarily calcium based stones. The majority of kidney stones (90%) happen to be calcium. Calcium is also not very dense which allows the acids to quickly and safely dissolve them. We have researched and recommend phosphoric acid as they best acid for dissolution remedies.

Finally, you should always aim to prevent kidney stones too! If you have suffered from kidney stones previously, you are more likely to be re-diagnosed with kidney stones later on in life. With that said, you should know how to prevent kidney stones with the foods and drinks in your diet. A good rule of thumb would be to drink enough water and to eat at least 5 water soluble fiber fruits or vegetables a day. And what's that quote? “Prevention is always the best medicine.”

There are millions of hypertension sufferers who are holistically (often called natural health) treating their blood pressure disease with simple high blood pressure natural treatments. And the best part about natural health in the case of HBP, it is often more effective than the medications.

Did you know that potassium has been the latest topic in high blood pressure research?

Using Natural Health to Cure Yourself

Only a decade ago were people cringing at the word 'natural health'. Many people believed that natural remedies were for hippies or witches. I am half joking and half serious.

However, in the course of years that mindset has changed and 'natural health' is the newest rave in the medical community. Why was this? Research is beginning to prove that many natural treatments work!

Think about the last time you were in the doctor's office. Chances are that he told you that you should be drinking lots of fluids and getting adequate rest. Though you probably didn't think of it, your doctor just recommended some simple natural health tips. Research and studies prove that water has hundreds of benefits to your health and so does hydration.

But what about the other natural remedies that your doctor isn't telling you? For instance, the element and nutrient potassium has been shown to naturally normalize high blood pressure!

Potassium Normalizes High Blood Pressure

Potassium is required by the body for proper functioning. Potassium can also help the body remove waste, helps with muscle contraction and aids in sending nerve impulses through the body. The problem is that most people are not getting adequate levels of potassium in their diet. This can occur because of a poor diet or because of too much sodium which flushes the nutrient.

In the case of diuretics (common high blood pressure treatment), it can flush potassium as well as sodium from the body. Though your score might be normal, your potassium levels can be rock bottom causing further complications to your body and your blood pressure.

Recently, researchers at Duke University found that getting more potassium could lower blood pressure by as many as 20 points for most at risk people. Some other studies have found reductions of around four points for systolic pressure and two points for diastolic pressure, about half the reduction usually seen when using blood pressure lowering drugs.

In other words, you might be able to normalize your blood pressure with a diet rich in potassium.

Cure Hypertension with Potassium

How much potassium do you need? The recommended daily allowance for potassium is 4,700 milligrams, though most people get much less than that. For instance, one banana is about 400 mg of potassium. That means you would need to eat 10 bananas a day! Yuck!

We recommend a diet rich in potassium and a potassium supplement. Here is a quick list of foods rich in potassium: apricots, avocado, bananas, cantaloupe, melons, kiwi, lima beans, milk, oranges, orange juice, potatoes, prunes, spinach, tomatoes, vegetable juice, meat, fish, and poultry.

Say Good Bye to High Blood Pressure in Days

But there is more than potassium! What vitamins are you taking? What minerals are effective? What breathing techniques cure hypertension? What are you drinking? What foods should you give up? What exercises normalize blood pressure? What should you be drinking with water? Why are sufferers buying garlic supplements?

“I can’t believe you’re taking a picture of me with my hair looking like this!

"I can't believe you're taking a picture of me with my hair looking like this!" But mom didn't protest too loudly. After all, she was making Bismarks today, from scratch. She hasn't done that for about ten years. Her favorites have a maple nut frosting with chopped walnuts. I'm partial to the ones filled with mom's raspberry preserves (made from our garden last summer) and a coconut frosting.

The last couple weeks of April were pretty challenging. Mom had more chest pain that was no longer fleeting, and her blood pressure was labile and hard to control. Her doctor has been great to work with since hypertension reared its ugly head four months ago. We found from experience that she can only take small doses of her prescription medication at a time without dropping her blood pressure too low. In fact, mom is on the lowest possible dose of her ace inhibitor and her doctor gave us a range, so that the medication can be held, or adjusted up or down, as needed. But when I suggested that mom see her doctor again, she said, "he'll just give me more pills and I don't want that."

Ever since I can remember, Mom has preferred more natural, holistic approaches to health and wellness. She even has it specified in her advance directives. We use therapeutic grade essential oils (clinical aromatherapy) on a daily basis for a variety of purposes (e.g., soothing a headache, shifting/lifting a mood, in shampoo and other personal care products, as a flavoring agent in cooking, for repelling mosquitoes, in place of dryer sheets...the list goes on and on). So I decided maybe it was time to create a custom aromatherapy inhaler for mom to use as an adjunct to her current regimen.

Mom has been using her aromatherapy inhaler about four times a day for the past seven days. She reported that she "took a few sniffs" of the inhaler during the first night and her chest pain promptly subsided. Pretty cool. She has been monitoring her blood pressure 3-4 times a day and recording the results on a medication and supplement log. We discovered early on, that just using the inhaler alone brought her blood pressure down from 189/90 to 160/83 in one hour. We know from past experience, that would not have happened even if she just rested in her recliner. Over the course of this past week, her blood pressure has been in her desirable range most of the time. She has needed minimal prescription medication, which makes her happy.

So, today mom made Bismarks. I see from her log, that her blood pressure was 127/65 after a day of cooking. Tomorrow she is getting her hair done, with highlights, if you please. I'm thankful that there are many approaches to support our health and healing. Most of all, I'm grateful that mom's focus right now is back on scrapbooking, cooking and baking her favorite recipes, and on whether or not her hair looks good enough to let us take her picture.

Once upon a time, the only thing that could spoil your holiday abroad was the airline, airport, crap hotel, the service or lack-of, hire cars that broke down, bad food and getting ill; I mean very ill, getting drunk, losing your wallet-passport-camera-ipod and worse still, getting arrested for being a prat.

Of course you have to face the usual cons and fakes, from artists to souvenirs, crooked cops, pedlars and pimps. But you would never imagine that a Government official as in Goa, India would actually warn "foreign tourists" especially when 60% of their economy is tourist related.

“Foreign tourists have to be careful,” he said. “They can’t just do these things and then blame the government for the consequences. You can’t expect the government to provide police on the beaches after midnight.” He warned foreign women in Goa to avoid “insecure places” and to take “precautions”, while declining to define either term." Timesonline

Is Digambar Kamat, Chief Minister of the Indian state of Goa, misunderstood?

From a UK, perspective his words sound ridiculous!

However, in the Indian context, his words of warning probably would be no different to the average Indian tourist to his State.

Is the morality of the shack worker to be equated with that of either the Chief Minister or the whole State of Goa?

The case of Scarlett Keeling and her tragic death has exposed the grim truth about life-after-sunset, on the once idyllic paradise that was, the beaches of Goa.

Fiona McKeown as the mother, has come in for her fair share of criticisms. However she faces an uphill struggle in being able to understand the Indian psyche and the political machinery at work. The missing internal organs of her daughter are only a fraction of the problem at hand.

Timesonline has interesting observations and questions:

Hospitals, surgeries and nursing homes have been told to check the scales that they use to weigh patients, because of fears that defective ones could cause errors in medication (David Rose writes).

The Government has issued a warning that patients could be given the wrong doses of drugs if their weight is calculated inaccurately.

In February it emerged that NHS staff had used defective bathroom scales to weigh a four-year-old cancer patient to calculate her radiation dosage.

In her case, the error was spotted in time. But trading standards officers began a national medical weighing project last month after many hospital scales were found to be inaccurate. They also found that staff did not have access to the right scales for specific tasks.

Officers will check that all weighing equipment is accurate and legal, focusing particularly on cancer and children's departments. They will also ensure that staff are properly trained. The Department of Health said that all scales used in healthcare settings must be checked by the middle of next month.

If you are searching for a guaranteed gout remedy report, you came to the right place! Did you know

If you are searching for a guaranteed gout remedy report, you came to the right place! Did you know that gout is the most painful form of arthritis but is also the most treatable? If you are suffering from gout, you have the option to allow gout to control you and your life or you can begin to naturally treat gout and take your life back! And the best thing about gout is you can save money and naturally cure gout at home!

How many times have you heard your doctor say, "get some rest and drink plenty of water"? Whether you knew it or not, your doctor just gave you a simple, natural and holistic cure for your ailment. If you add your diet, vitamins, supplements and various physical exercises, you would have a complete natural remedy! And this is the basic idea behind our gout remedy report!

Cure Gout Naturally and Holistically

Natural remedies have been around probably since the beginning of mankind. And only in recent years has there been valid proof that many remedies have been shown to be quite effective (many were proven false too). And did you know that gout is one of the easiest diseases to naturally treat?

The reason why natural and holistic remedies are becoming popular is because science is now revealing that your body has an internal intelligence which allows itself to naturally heal if giving the proper tools. In the case of gout, it is curable with your diet, vitamins, supplements, some herbs and a few simple remedies.

Therefore our gout remedy report would be considered 'holistic' because it is using your 'whole' body to flush the uric acid from your body and joints. By eliminating the high levels of uric acid, you can treat gout naturally.

Naturally Cure Gout with 5 Free Tips

Here are 5 free secrets to cure gout from our Gout Remedy Report!

1. Decrease Uric Acid Levels- The first step for curing gout is to either flush the uric acid in your body or neutralize it. If you need immediate relief, you can eat certain fruits or even a baking soda drink to immediately lower the uric acid levels. If you are interested in curing gout permanently and losing 15+ lbs, you need to focus on your diet. I will discuss your diet in a second.

2. Just Say No!- Gout is caused by poor lifestyle choices. Unfortunately, gout prevention occurs by just saying no! Here is a quick list you should memorize. If you drink, only drink one drink per night. Particularly beer can lead to hyperuricemia because it interferes with the removal of uric acid. Also avoid processed foods, fast foods, and fried foods if at all possible.

3. Alkaline Water- You should be drinking at least 10 to 12 eight-ounce glasses of non-alcoholic fluid every day. The fluid will help your body flush the crystals out of your system. Try drinking alkaline water with a pH of greater than 7.

4. Neutralizing Acid- Do you remember your last science class? But seriously, you can naturally neutralize the uric acid between your joints with a baking soda water mix. Baking soda is a base which is just the opposite of an acid. Therefore, by drinking a baking soda concoction, you can naturally treat a flare-up.

5. Lose Weight- This natural remedy will actually shed the pounds off you too! By eating water soluble fiber foods (vegetables and fruits), you can lose weight and cure gout. Water soluble fiber flushes toxins, impurities, excess fat/cholesterol and uric acid.

Naturally Cure Gout in 2 Hours of Less

What vitamins should you be taking? What supplements? What breathing techniques increase circulation and keep uric acid levels low? What exercises should you be trying?

Are natural remedies for the gallbladder as simple as changing your diet? Yes and no! Though docto

Are natural remedies for the gallbladder as simple as changing your diet? Yes and no! Though doctors always recommend gallbladder surgery, you might be able to keep your gallbladder and naturally dissolve your gallstones with simple remedies. And these simple remedies start with your diet.

Did you know that over a half a million Americans undergo gallbladder surgery each year, also called a cholecystectomy. That number is staggeringly high considering that most gallstones can be naturally dissolved. In fact, only in extreme cases, about 5-10% of the time does the gallbladder need to be removed to treat and prevent future gallstones.

Are you willing to try some simple natural remedies that use your diet as the instrument to dissolve and pass your gallstones?

A Holistic Gallstone Treatment

First, do not be scared of the 'H' word, holistic! A holistic treatment is simply allowing your body to use its 'whole' self to naturally treat itself. In the case of gallstones, you can actually give your body what it needs to naturally dissolve and flush the cholesterol based gallstones lodged in your bile ducts.

The first secret your doctor will not share with you is that your body is actually smarter than medical science gives it credit for. Did you know that recent research is showing that the body has an internal intelligence that allows it to heal itself entirely? And your doctor uses this knowledge when he tells you to "drink lots of fluids and get plenty of rest"! But he is only telling you 15% of the holistic equation!

With natural remedies for gallbladder, your diet plays a pivotal role in forming gallstones and dissolving gallstones! In other words, you can keep your organ (the gallbladder), save up to $20,000 and cancel your surgery in days if you pass it using holistic remedies.

Here are some secrets that your doctor might not have mentioned!

Holistic Gallstone Secrets

1. A Healthy Diet- A healthy gallstone diet is a diet which emphasizes 'flushing'. In other words, you should flush cholesterol and toxins from your body. A healthy diet for gallstones is one with high water-soluble dietary fiber and little saturated fats. Because the gallstones are composed of cholesterol, you can prevent them by keeping cholesterol flushed out of your body.

2. Animal Products- You should avoid eating foods with animal or animal-based products in them. This is because of cholesterol which can add to the gallstone! Remember that flushing gallstones is simpler the smaller they are. You should avoid the following foods: fast foods, oily foods, spicy foods, red meats, eggs, pork, onions, bird, milk, corn, beans and nuts. Don't stop reading because I will also give a list of foods you can eat!

3. Gallstone Prevention- Prevention is the best medicine. You can prevent gallstones with increasing your fiber with any fruits and vegetables because they are water-soluble fiber. Water-soluble fiber flushes the body and gallstones. Here is a helpful list: alfalfa, apples, artichokes, barley, beets, broccoli, carrots, celery, fennel, grapefruit, horseradish, lemons, mustard greens, olive oil radishes, spinach greens, water chestnuts, watermelon and garlic.

4. Treat Yourself- Every food plan that is successful has a reward system. If you want to splurge on foods that you might be eliminating from your diet? Here is a good idea! If you love meat, you should eat chicken, turkey and fish which are low in cholesterol. You should also be sure to eat the meat with fruits and vegetables which will keep most of the cholesterol flushed from body.

A Gallstone 24 Hour Remedy

This will help you start your treatment to pass your gallstones with your diet. Also consider an annual liver and gallbladder flush! Do you know what vitamins convert cholesterol to non-harmful bile? Are you aware of the most effective herbal remedies?

If want a fool-proof way to dissolve and flush your gallstones in 24 hours, please visit our Natural and Holistic Gallstone Website.

I know it's been reported on other blogs but I thought I'd include it on mine as well, for completeness sake.

UK GP website Pulse reports:

Homeopathy is as effective as conventional therapy in children with eczema, concludes the first prospective cohort study to compare the treatments.

The German study in 118 children with eczema found conventional treatment by GPs was equally as effective as homeopathic treatment in relieving symptoms and improving quality of life.

Symptom scores, as assessed by patients or their parents at one year, were not significantly different, although physician scores for eczema signs and symptom scores were significantly improved in the homoeopathically treated group.

The authors said this trial in primary care provided good evidence for the use of homeopathy for the treatment of eczema and gave a ‘more realistic picture’ of eczema therapy than that seen in a placebo-controlled randomised controlled trial."

The research is published in the latest issue of Complementary Therapies in Medicine journal. Which describes itself as:

"Complementary Therapies in Medicine is an international, peer-reviewed journal that has considerable appeal to anyone who seeks objective and critical information on complementary therapies or who wishes to deepen their understanding of these approaches. It will be of particular interest to healthcare practitioners including family practitioners, complementary therapists, nurses, and physiotherapists; to academics including social scientists and CAM researchers; to healthcare managers; and to patients.

Complementary Therapies in Medicine aims to publish valid, relevant and rigorous research and serious discussion articles with the main purpose of improving healthcare. The journal believes that good healthcare needs to be based on clinical judgement and the available evidence on what is safe and effective, integrating conventional and complementary therapies as appropriate.

Complementary Therapies in Medicine publishes a variety of articles including primary research, reviews and opinion pieces. Recognising that some forms of CAM present novel and complex interventions, the journal encourages the exploration of the methodology of research. It believes that researchers should always aim at employing high ethical and methodological standards, and also welcomes small or exploratory studies that make a contribution to the area. Well conducted studies with negative outcomes are also welcome if they inform patient care. The journal welcomes considered opinion pieces that reflect genuine disagreements but remain respectful of the views of others.

Each issue features original, high quality research on complementary medicine, an abstracts sections with details of recently published research of high importance, as well as information and experiences on intregrating complementary medicine into mainstream care."

Sounds like my kind of journal.

If an individual finds themselves in an anxiety inducing situation or is feeling especially stressfu

If an individual finds themselves in an anxiety inducing situation or is feeling especially stressful, aromatherapy is a very fast, easy and effective way to alleviate those feelings. Simply inhaling lavender, rose, mandarin, lemon balm or clary sage can almost instantly increase an individuals their sense of calm and decrease their sense of stress. Another effective way to use aromatherapy to lessen stress is to essential oils while getting a massage. Burning an aromatherapy candle provides even more punch. Both are an excellent way to relieve stress by using aromatherapy. Being massaged with essential oils works especially well because one is combining the power of massage therapy with aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy is such an effective and powerful way to relieve stress because you don't have to go to a gym, lie down or pop a pill. There are no side effects, (unless you are allergic, perform a spot test so that you are sure) you can take it with you and instantly make yourself feel better. You can carry around a little lavender in your purse, if you are at work, you can use a diffuser. So you can experience the benefits of aromatherapy from anywhere. It can become your traveling stress buster. Aromatherapy works especially well in helping to cheer us up, feel balanced, become more energized and even to calm us.

And while there are certain aromatherapy scents and oils that are known to promote the reduction of stress, it is really best to go with the scent that calms you. If peppermint does it for you, use peppermint, if geranium does it for you, use geranium. In many cases it comes down to a personal preference, and that is just fine. You do not have to use a certain scent just because others tout its properties. Instead you may want to do a little experimentation and see what reacts best with your body to give you the feelings or state of being that you are looking for. To really multiply the power of aromatherapy to relieve stress, you may want to common essential oils or candles with other relaxing activities. For example, taking a hot bath that has drops of essential oils and while burning an aromatherapy candle will exponentially increase the effectiveness of aromatherapy to relieve stress.

Remember to play around with various scents. You may even want to combine some scents to get a particular scent that you enjoy or you increase the power of its’ properties. If you are unfamiliar with creating essential oil blends, you could take a course or find some good information at your library or over the internet.

Crossing Paths with Sai Baba
by Caroline Myss
May 2007 Issue 'Edge Life"

I gradually had become aware of Sai Baba (an avatar born in India in 1926) during the last decade or so because stories about him kept surfacing. I'd find out that friends of mine were devotees. So I was curious about him. Of course, when I saw what he looked like, I thought, "You've got to be kidding!" First of all, the very idea that I would consider devotion first to a human being...I cannot process that. That doesn't work in my personal theology. Number two, I can't seem to get worked up about Hinduism. So we've got a human being and a Hindu. And then someone who wears his hair like that! So on all burners, you have somebody who's not making a lot of sense to me.

And that makes it all the more amazing because I really, truly am not easily seduced. I truly am not. But over the years...how can I say this...our paths have crossed in some pretty amazing ways. So I would occasionally say a silent prayer like, "Baba, if you can hear me, if you're out there, I could use your help." And then, to be honest with you, I would add as an aside, "Yo, Jesus, Mary and anyone else up there on the Christian team, if I'm screwing up here, it's not from a lack of faith, it's that I'm just visiting. Let's not make this a big, huge deal, okay?"

So am I superstitious? Yes. I am spiritually, respectfully superstitious. I have too much Catholic in me to not pay attention to my Catholic history, and too much devotion to Jesus, Mary and the Christian mystic teachings. I also am dominantly a monotheist. So turning my devotion to Baba was potentially a real crisis for me. I mean, who is this man and why am I so drawn to him? That was very, very difficult for me and still is. At the end of the day, what I usually do is run away and go back to "there is only one God in many forms" and that's the end of that.

A health scare
The first time I called on Sai Baba was more than 10 years ago during a health scare I had while in northern Scotland. You have to understand that I'm in the middle of nowhere and nobody but my friends know I'm there. I said, "Baba, I don't even know why I'm praying to you. But if you're there and if you're listening, I think I'd like some of that vibhuti (holy ash that Sai Baba reportedly materializes at will)." Now why would I ask for vibhuti? I've never asked for that in my life. Holy water, yeah. Holy oil, uh-huh. Holy ash, no. "Ash" to me is Ash Wednesday. Ash has its own sacred place in the Christian tradition. But in India, ash is the sacred element.

So the next day -- the very next day! -- this little tube the size of a 35mm film canister arrives filled with vibhuti with a note that reads, "To Caroline Myss from Sai Baba." This was within 12 hours of my prayer and I'm up where Christ lost his shoe in the Highlands of Scotland! The package had come via someone I had met many years earlier who had come to three of my lectures in Copenhagen. I didn't even know this man! Do you know how many thousands of people I meet? Do you think I would give this man my address, much less my social schedule, plus call him up and tell him I'm going to see a few friends in northern Scotland in case he needs to reach me? Do you understand how ridiculous that is? That's why getting that package impressed me so much. I mean, if I had gotten a call from a very close friend who said, "Hey, I just got you some vibhuti," that would have been impressive enough. But to actually have a package arrive delivered by someone I didn't even know was way, way beyond impressive. And where did he mail it? To where I was visiting friends in a remote part of Scotland! A stalker couldn't do a better job!

From that point on, Baba had my attention. And I started to experience connections with him on a fairly regular basis. For example, when my older brother Joe was critically ill and my younger brother Eddie was dealing with some very stressful circumstances, my mother said to me, "Can't you do something? Can't you write Sai Baba?"

I said, "What do you think I should do, Mom? Address an envelope to Sai Baba in care of India? I have no idea where he lives." I woke up the next morning to find that his address had been faxed to me from somebody in Australia!

After the container of vibhuti had showed up in Scotland, I took it with me wherever I traveled. It was precious to me. It was like having my own altar, a direct phone line to this mysterious being who always knew where I was. Not long after, I was doing a workshop with Norm Shealy at Norm's farm. I made the mistake of telling this group of 28 people about the vibhuti and everybody was like, "I want some, I want some." It was just too much for me. I thought, "Go away! How dare you ask for this? How dare you?"

But then it occurred to me that there was something I needed to learn from this. So I opened up the canister and told people to just touch it a little bit. One man stuck his finger in all the way to the bottom and I said, "Do you understand what I just said to you? Why did you do that? This ash is sacred to me. What is it with you people having to be so greedy?" I mean, I leveled him. He came up to me later and apologized.

On top of that, a woman in the group comes up and says, "My aunt is dying, she's a devotee of Sai Baba, can I take some to her?"

And I thought, "Can you take some to her? I'm already halfway out of it!" Well, her aunt had never been to India so I put a little vibhuti in a Kleenex for her. But I was raging. I was raging at my own stupidity that I'd just shared something so precious so carelessly. I put the lid back on the container and it's never gone out with me again. It's upstairs in my room and that's where it's going to stay.

Well, about six weeks after that workshop, I get a letter. I still don't know who it was from. There was no postmark. It was filled with seven packages of vibhuti and a note that read, "These are from Baba. He says thank you."

Through gratitude
Then, in the summer of 1999, I was tested for Lupus. I was really terrified because it's an ugly disease and I had lost my best friend to it. I was told I would have to wait at least a week for the results. On the day of the test, I prayed to Sai Baba. And even though I still didn't really know much about him, I prayed, "I am going to come to India to see you. And if I'm going because I'm sick, I'm going to count on you to help me. And if I'm going because I'm not sick, it'll be through gratitude."

The very next day, I received a call that the blood test was negative.

Soon after, I flew to India and spent five days at Sai Baba's ashram. Five days is nothing. Many people go there for five months. When I first saw the ashram, it blew me away because it was so not like the beautiful Catholic monasteries and convents I was used to. It was small, concrete and just visually awful. There were thousands of people crowded outside. It was intensely hot and it was very uncomfortable.

You had to wait like six hours in the blazing hot sun to go in and watch Baba come in for 20 minutes. When people were allowed to go into the mandir, the huge open temple, they would practically kill each other to get the best seat in the house. And the smell! I am such a stickler for high-voltage hygiene so it was very difficult for me. There was a sense of brutality and horribleness to it all. I was just shocked.

Mass of humanity
Well, I'm sitting there in this mass of humanity and somebody comes up to me and tells me I'm wanted at the guest office or whatever it's called. And I'm thinking, how did they find me out of thousands and thousands of people and how did they even know I was there? I find my way to the office and two people I've never seen before give me some kind of ribbon and tell me I've been awarded VIP status, because Baba wants me to sit in the front. How and why that happened I have no idea. Nobody knew I was there or that I was an American writer; nobody over there cares about who you are.

Now, when Baba comes to darshan, which is his twice daily appearance in the mandir, he walks around at ground level and people desperately thrust personal letters toward him. Every so often, he'll take a letter, which I saw was a really big deal for people. So what the heck, I thought I'd write a letter, too. The next day, he walked past me, turned around, came back and asked for my letter. After the darshan, people were streaming up and kissing the ground in front of where Baba had stood when he had asked for my letter. I was told that it was out of character for Baba to stop and actually ask for someone's letter. I mean, it was really a big deal for these people. I didn't expect or receive any response from giving Baba the letter. It was more like an act of faith.

So where do I stand today? I still don't have any answers, but Baba's presence in my life has become a constant. And I find that very, very comforting.

Reading my last post, I realised that it painted a pretty grim picture of childhood in Britain today

Reading my last post, I realised that it painted a pretty grim picture of childhood in Britain today and I want to balance that off with some more hopeful news. At the end of 2007, the Education Secretary, Ed Balls, announced that lessons in happiness, well-being and good manners are to be introduced in all state secondary schools. I remember thinking that this was a major step forward for education in the UK – one that begins to align the Education sector with some of the latest thinking from the world of business.

By introducing this initiative, the Government is acknowledging that well-being, self-awareness and a sense of purpose are just as important as the tasks that pupils are required to complete in order to achieve their academic objectives.

Pilots of the ‘Seal’ programme (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning) – an idea which originated in the States - have already been successfully implemented in primary schools here and have been found to boost both academic performance and discipline by helping children to better understand their emotions. So, the Government concluded that it’s important for children to develop an emotionally intelligent way of approaching their work, as well as producing good results – Hallelujah! Exactly the same is true for adults in the workplace.

The hope is that the benefits of teaching children how to express their feelings, manage their anger and empathise with other people will create calmer, more productive school environments, as well as boosting the concentration, engagement and motivation levels of students. It is no coincidence that these are the exact same benefits that employers can expect when they commit to creating workplaces characterised by high levels of well-being and engagement.

And this emerging alignment between the worlds of education and work bodes well for the future of the UK economy – because tomorrow’s employees are likely to enter the workplace with a much more mature and productive approach to work. They will bring with them a holistic attitude which will include an understanding of the importance of balancing work and life to deliver sustainable levels of high performance, more sophisticated people skills and higher levels of personal resilience. So, although our children are reporting that they are more unhappy than ever, change is afoot and I’m delighted that these classes are set to be a standard part of the national curriculum. Because, as I explained in a recent post, you can learn to be positive!

Muticultarism has almost, become a swear word for both sides of the divide.

Take KSA (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia).

Could the presence of American soldiers drive indegenous Saudis towards fundamentalist Islam?

How about Canada:

“The current position of Canada’s cultural personality is a very argumentative topic. Is our country a melting pot or is it a tossed salad? “Canada has never been a melting pot, more like a tossed salad.” (Arnold Edinborough) Canadians are more subdued than those of other countries and choose not to show pride on their sleeve. As well, many of the older country immigrants have not adopted the Canadian way of life, and, along with numerous other Canadian immigrants prefer to keep their own identity. However, is this cause to classify us as a tossed salad and mould our country into a less integrated society? The United States have been categorized as “the great melting pot of humanity”, where individuals of all nations are invited to join the country to form "a more perfect nation". In this “perfect nation” everyone is required to follow common community standards in an attempt to strengthen the country. However, individuals who become Canadian citizens are encouraged to maintain their cultural identities, complete with customs, languages, and traditions, causing Canada to often be referred to as a mosaic. “Canadians…linked to think of their country as a mosaic rather than melting pot.” (Kenneth McNaught) For example, in Nunuvat the primary language is Inuitituk with secondary services available to individuals in English. Enhancing, preserving, and sharing Canada’s multiple cultures is a subject that all Canadian citizens greatly value, and could be considered a reason as to why Canada is regarded as one of the most prominent countries in the world." Source

Disturbing reflection: Is multiculturalism a tool of collectivism.

....Multiculturalists dismiss the significance of Western civilization by claiming that Western traditions of elitism, racism, and sexism are the cause of most of our current problems. They accept a Romantic view of human nature as beneficent and benign until it was corrupted by flawed Western ideology and culture.

Multiculturalism implies that race, ethnicity, and sex (or sexual preference) have an inescapable effect on the way people think and/or the values they hold or are capable of holding. There are many closed systems of perception, thought, and feeling each affiliated with some biologically defined group.

Several voices suggest that the Rev Wright falls into the victim-propagation-strategy.

...The victim mentality is both a cause and effect of multiculturalism. Multiculturalism promotes a culture of victims who have a perpetual claim on society and the government. The result is the division of society into political interest groups with conflicting demands that cannot all be met. <a href="...The victim mentality is both a cause and effect of multiculturalism.
Conspiracy Theory: Is Jeremiah Wright Trying To Torpedo Obama's Campaign?

Well, think about it. What is Rev. Wright’s, and an entire generation of “civil rights” leaders’, bread and butter? Conflict between minority Americans and majority (white) Americans. The “us vs. them” mentality. As long as minorities think they’re members of an oppressed victim class they’ll flock to people like Rev. Wright, and Wright profits

Pickled politics has a reasoned argument and as he says "head hurt" from a UK perspective. Please read the whole article to get the correct point of view, rather than my randomly selected quotes.

...This is what made Martin Luther King so compelling. He spoke of black people lifting themselves, not by denigrating white people but by speaking to both communities in a language whites and blacks could identify with. We have a modern Martin Luther King in the form of Barack Obama, but he’s being dragged down by the us versus them politics that has become so ingrained.

...Britain has its own Wright in the form of Dr Mohammad Naseem, chairman of Birmingham mosque, who infamously refused to believe 7/7 could have been the work of British Muslims and claimed the videotape by Mohammad Sidique Khan was doctored.

...It’s too easy to slice and dice quotes from Wright and Naseem and paint them as nutters without bothering to pay any attention to what they were saying. A modern media environment that thrives on sensationalism only makes this worse.

I like the passion in this closing sentence and grudgingly find myself in agreement with the sentiment, but not necessarily the terminology.

Wright should have kept his mouth shut but instead, as Michael Tomasky pointed out, he needs to re-affirm his righteous view that America is too racist to elect a black president. And there’s nothing more annoying than being a called a sellout/dhimmi/wet-liberal when you’re trying to build bridges.

I am multicultural from birth with experience and understandinmg of the dialectic

"Healing cancer. naturally!" is at the top of search engine lists should you search for "healing cancer" or anything similar, yet a closer inspection of the site shows that it is infact full of very dangerous information.
