Now, the sensitive approach would require one to go to people and get a perception of what the local perception of their own heritage.  Classical heritage, namely, sculpted buildings like temples and tanks, were immediately and exclusively perceived as heritage. The real trouble surfaced with the request for exhibits of vernacular heritage.  How old should an object be? How does one work towards framing a limit on validity of history for heritage?

In rounders we attained the number one position for 5 years and remained undefeated. In netball we were placed number two in the Ealing borough. I was also selected to represent the Ealing borough in the under 13's girls cricket team at Lord's Cricket Ground, were we went on to win the trophy, beating all our opponents. I also spent 4 years training in a martial art called SKO, having passed all my gradings on my first attempt.

Once I'd moved out of Year 9, I helped younger students with their gymnastics skills, and last year I volunteered at a local primary school and helped run their sports day.

Over the years of my education, I have been given many opportunities such as being selected to visit Barcelona, Spain, in year 9 to develop my netball skills and play tournaments against Spanish oppositions.

I was also picked to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award, were I was made to go camping for a week and learn the key essential skills required when camping in a forest. I completed this successfully and was able to go on to receive my bronze award.

As you can tell, I really like sports and I'd like to find a future in a related field.

Y a pesar de su tamaño, a ella no le molesta, se siente orgullosa de ello y le encanta la atención que le dán debido a esto. Jyoti sufre de una enfermedad genética conocida como Acondroplasia; no fue hasta los 5 años que empezarón a notar su falta de crecimiento.

Una muestra más de que hay que sacarle provecho a las extrañas situaciones que no podemos controlar, como una enfermedad de este tipo.

Ademas, y según comenta Jyoti, su condición lejos de traerle desgracias, es para ella una alegría, pues goza en su país de una celebridad que le encanta disfrutar. “Me siento orgullosa de ser pequeña, me gusta la atención que recibo por ello. Soy exactamente como las demás personas, me alimento como tú y sueño como tú. No me siento diferente” expresa Jyoti.

En la actualidad asiste con el resto de sus compañeras a una escuela de secundaria local, donde sigue los mismos estudios que sus compañeros con la única diferencia de que ella utiliza un pupitre especial. Su madre de 45 años, Ranjana, explica que no noto la condición de su hija hasta los 5 años de edad, “Jyoti es pequeña pero lo linda, y la amo mucho. Es igual que cualquier adolescente de su edad, le gusta escuchar música y ver películas en DVd, incluso tiene sueños de convertirse en una actriz de Bollywood” expreso su madre.

Ahora Jyoti comienza a cumplir sus sueños, pues recientemente ha grabado un disco con una de sus artistas pop preferida, Mika Singh.
