I colored today! Aren't my pictures pretty? I colored cookie monster because Daddy B said I am a cookie monster. -giggles- And I colored the duckie because I love rubber duckies. I didn't color the rest of the page though, just the duckie. I need to get more crayons though so I don't run out anytime soon. They were only 22 cents for a pack of 24 at Wally World.

We have had a good long weekend. Thursday night was awful, won't go into too much detail but we were controlling the crying alot on and off between 4 and 515am at which point we gave up and Ted came in with me

Friday Ted was fine and there seemed to be no resurgence of the vommiting whihc was a plus. I took him over to Brooklands in the hope of using some of my Mothercare vouchers to buy him some clean new dummies - they have stopped selling the kind he likes - are they even allowed to do that?!?! Fortunately I have also been able to get the same shape and style from Tesco before so I got some there later but it could have been a nightmare scenario! We had some lunch but Ted was really off his food - even fruit so he snacked a little. I made the mistake of not putting him in his buggy when we went to Mothercare - won't be doing that again he was everywhere - and impossible to manage due to screaming and squirming if I tried to carry him away from whatever it was he was enjoying so it was a short trip and I didn't manage to get the new grown up pyjamas I wanted although I glanced at the ones in Mothercare and they all seemed to be Thomas or Night Garden or Spiderman and £10 per pair, and all I want is regular jamas so not ideal. Ted slept on the way home and we did a transfer and both slept on the couch when we got home.

Ry came home early with a horrible cold, and Mum arrived to babysit at about the same time so there was alot of activity late in the day - so much so I almost missed my chiropractor appointment, but I made it just in time. Ted went down without much of a fight - more of a 30 second protest before he decided he would rather sleep then Ry and I went out for dinner, my shout to celebrate his promotion. We went to Chez Gerrard in Egham which was great, food was good, service was excellent, they do waggyu beef there but at £28 a pop we setteld for their regular beef ribeyes which were cooked perfectly - my rare was rare - a frenchman could have verified! I am not sure we will go back to having medium steaks now we are more used to rare ones.

Ted had nmot a bad night, needed settling at 12ish and came to bed with me at 530 with a bottle. Saturday Ry was going to stay in bed most of the day to try and recover from this cold so Ted and i went to swimming class in the morning, then to Sainsburys where we got a twin pack of jim jams for £5 (thats more like it) and I ended up getting him a couple of other staples too. Back home and he was asleep so we did the transfer again and settled down to watch Pirates of the Carribean 3 (again for me!) Ry fell asleep and Ted woke up halfway through so it wasn't quite the movie experience I was lookng for.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday Ted was not eating much, I know he has two molars coming through as I can see the tips coming through the gums and there are two lurking at the bottom so it may be the gums are painful, it might be that he has got a little bug and thats why his appetite seems to be down, or it may be that he is not eating as a way of getting to me as he senses its something I worry about - which it is as if he doesn't eat enough during the day he gets hungry in the early hours! I am waiting to see what happens at nursery this week, maybe he will eat fine there and then I will know its a home thing. We shall see. We had abit of a scare though as he was playing and he brought up a little bit of ick and Ry said that while in the garden Ted had handed him some berries - which look like blueberries but come from one of the plants. Well I looked it up and its a virginia creeper whic has purple berries which are poisonous and can be fatal ..... Ry said he had checked Teds mouth when he gave him the berry and there was no residue there and they do apparently taste horrible so it would be unlikely someone would eat enough but it just makes you think and at least now we are aware that we have a toxic plant in the garden - great! anyway I looked through the ick and I think I identified caremalised pear from his super haigh fat yoghurt so that might have been abit rich - although he ate all of it with gusto so I am just glad to get the calories down him.

Saturday night was new jimjams night and Ted went down with very little fuss and slept through until 4.30, because he didn't eat much on Saturday I figured he would be hard to settle in his cot as he would be hungry so I got a bottle and took him into the front room. He drank the bottle and went back to sleep - althuogh he is such a fidget it took him at least an hour to settle down which was a shame but he went back to sleep before 6 and didn't wake until nearly 8 so that was ok.

Household chores this morning, laundry, ironing, family breakfast (T had half his oatbix), Ted had a play outside with Daddy, then more chores before lunch (T had some melon, half a banana and a cereal biscuit), nap, then Ry and I had a late lunch at 3 and Ted ate all the leftover mash potato from last night and a whole load of macaroni so that was great. T and I went to Ellies naming ceremony in the late afternoon which he was brilliant at, all good behaviour, looked so smart and did some grazing on the buffet (2 mini sausages, bites of corned beef and egg sanwiches, tortilla chips, carrot wotosit type kids crisps and a mini sausage roll.) Its like the list from the very hungry caterpillar!! Maybe his tum is feeling better. We got home and had some play, I gave him a couple of fruit sticks to balance out the carbs and protein and then after some time hanging in the gym with his dad he went to bed, 2 or 3 protestations after I left the room then asleep. I wouldn't call it controlled crying anymore. Ry and I agreed the other night that anytime he wakes before 5 we would try and get him to settle back in his cot, so we shall see if he is up again at 430 wanting a bottle.

Back to work / nursery tomorrow, hoping it will all go well.

Bollywood cute smiling actress Rani Mukerji was out on the streets of Mumbai to share a little bit of love and a little bit of magic in her Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, attire. The children were out there to get the autograph of the actress. The dress sense of Rani was quite cool and she looked awesome in simple dress up. The movie is out for premiere soon and so the children are waiting to see the movie seems to be interesting as the promo clips shows.

Last Thursday’s work on the first part of the Clear Creek trail, while a lot of hard work, pro

Last Thursday's work on the first part of the Clear Creek trail, while a lot of hard work, provided no opportunities for photos of high ridge scenes and mountain vistas, and I wasn't going to mention anything about that day, but upon further reflection maybe I shall. It's not that there wasn't anything to write about, but rather I haven't decided yet exactly how I want to do it: as more trips are completed, I hope the ideas will fall into place and I will be able to write the story. For now, a couple photos that I did bring back will set a little of the stage.

Heavy snows during the past winter and violent storms of the past summer were not all that kind to Clear Creek trail 627T. While much of it winds pleasantly along (and sometimes in) the stream, there are also areas like this that have to be cleared:

Boots and gloves, a chainsaw and a pulaski, elbow grease and perspiration, woodsman-ship and will power are the tools used to do it.

The red hard hat of the crew leader who is starting to saw this tree to lengths is barely visible toward the far right side of this photo: it is not a small tree.

Ten hours of this kind of effort yielded about two miles of trail opened for the use of the back country traveler. In this case, as we hiked back down the trail toward the waiting truck at the end of the day, there were fresh tracks on it to inform us that the first traveler on the newly cleared trail was an adult moose who, I'm sure, appreciated our hard work.

Tomorrow we will go out again and I hope we will be able to make progress into the higher (and more photogenic) regions of the trail. At least we now have clear hiking for the first two miles.

I had a fun mission today where we met with some local sheiks (tribal leaders) and had a meeting and a meal. They slaughtered the fatted calf for us - actually two sheep, in which I helped skin. When I say that I helped skin the sheep, like a politician, I did a little mainly for the photo op. The meal was delicious. Besides lamb, we also had some cooked vegetables (onions, tomatoes, and peppers) stuffed with rice and dates, fresh fruits and vegetables, rice, potatoes, Iraqi soda, and some terrific flat bread. We also got to play some soccer with the kids who also enjoyed seeing photos of my children on my iPod, as well as listening to some music: Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Bach's Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring (my subtle attempt at witnessing), Frank Sinatra, and even some Christmas music. Several of them were huddled around me, each fighting for a turn at one of two headphones. One of them can be seen wearing my helmet in the photo above. It was a great day, embracing the Iraqi culture. I even did the back and forth cheek kiss with the sheiks! Salaamu aleykum (Peace be upon you).

They are everywhere now - in the gossips columns, in the endorsements, at the parties, at the reality shows and rocking the concerts at various countries. The Saifeena couple gave such a successful show on August 21 at Sharjah for ‘Jashan 2008‘ in the Middle East that the Morani Brothers, the organizers are now keen on taking the duo to Europe for a series of shows.

Mohammed Morani said,

“The Sharjah show was extremely successful. We are now organizing a series of shows across Europe and the Middle East. Saif and Kareena have a huge fan following in these places. People throng to the stadium to watch them especially after the success of Race and Jab We Met. Also, Saif and Kareenamake a wonderful pair. They are both good looking and exude power that makes the audience go ‘wow’. Saif and Kareena gave solo performances and the results are evident with the success of ‘Jashan 2008′, so we can imagine the response when the duo performs together.”

Kareena said,

“The show had a crowd of 20,000 people and it was just amazing. Saif is in talks with the Morani Brothers for the shows across Europe and the Middle East.”

To be known here that for the Sharjah show, the two did not perform together. But the organizers are hoping to cash in on their popularity and get them to do certain items together. Now, this is a win-win situation for everybody. The organizers get their coffers filled, the couple gets a whopping payment with the bonus of some time out together for romance and the fans get to see their favorite stars in action!

Have you ever noticed that weekends seem longer when you do something on Friday nights? This past Friday, hubby and I went camping, just the two of us to one of our favorite spots. We brought a bottle of wine, Yahtzee, white Cheddar pop corn and enjoyed the gorgeous view of the unending stars. I just love the top picture, it totally captures my kind of camping!

Today is another beautiful day so we're heading out with some friends for a fire and hot dog roast. While us girls chat and enjoy the day, the boys will be filling our truck with more fire wood for the wood stove. Living in the cold cold north means you have to get a big head start on the snow.

More sewing this evening...I have a couple new bags cut out and ready to go and I think I'll have a chance to finish both of them. Yet another twist as I find different styles I like. I'll be posting pictures!

Last night Danny and I had date night, and he took me to see Brian Regan at The Louisville Palace.

We both hoped that one, our seats would be good, two, his jokes would be as clean and as funny as the ones we've seen on tv, and three, the show wouldn't be too short. I am happy to report that our seats were phenomenal (second row, maybe 15 feet from the stage), he was hilarious, the jokes were clean, and the show lasted about 2 hours. Let me back up and say that I heard the Palace was a great venue for concerts, etc, but I had no idea how cool the decor was.

[caption id="attachment_96" align="alignright" width="300" caption="Brian Regan at the Palace"][/caption]

First, it is one of the oldest theatres in Louisville, opening in 1928. The history is interesting to read about as it is only one of two theatres that survived the urban renewal that took place downtown. Second, the ostentatious nature of its decor is not merely eye catching but truly intricate and beautiful. I can't believe we waited this long to see a show of any kind at the Palace. I guess we didn't know what we were missing until now! The lobby includes a bar area with tables for sitting before the doors to the theatre itself open. They sell movie theatre snacks, sodas, etc here. We of course bought a Coke and Twizzlers! Our favorite theatre snacks!

[caption id="" align="alignright" width="280" caption="The Louisville Palace- Lobby"][/caption]

The lobby area has high vaulted ceilings covered with carvings of Socrates, Beethoven and others. The carpet, walls, and lighting include deep reds, blues and gold. This theme only gets better as you enter the actual theatre. It is modeled after a Spanish courtyard inside. You really feel like you are in another place and time, sitting outdoors while the skyline from that place surrounds you and in our case, today's comedians entertain you. The atmosphere definitely sets the stage for a special evening out. It was perfect for our date night.

But I suppose that's enough about the theatre. Now on to the show. If you haven't watched the comedy of Brian Regan before, you are definitely missing out. We've watched clips and even his act on Comedy Central before, and have laughed a ton. Seeing him live was no different! His new material was great. Plus, at the end he came back out on stage for an encore and took requests from the audience. The entire audience laughed and clapped throughout the evening. I know we laughed harder than we had in a long time! Feel free to ask Danny to do a few of Brian's jokes and you'll see why we liked it, plus I think he likes telling them! I also recommend checking Brian Regan out online/on tv. His jokes are about everyday life and he keeps them clean, so it is pretty family friendly. There were a number of families in attendance at last night's show. His facial expressions and various "noises" kept us laughing from one joke to the next. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at The Louisville Palace!

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="650" caption="The Louisville Palace- Inside the Theatre"][/caption]

Oh, and I can't forget to mention that we ended the evening with a trip to Dairy Queen. A Butterfinger blizzard for Danny and a chocolate shake for me. Date night was great!
