Now trust me, my kids are fully aware about Obama. For kids 10 years old and younger, they could not tell you a thing about policy issues. All they know is that a Black man is running for president. For them, it wasn't that big of a deal. Thinking about my mother's generation, I remember her telling me stories of how they would call each other in their small town anytime a Black person was on television. For them, it was something too good to be true.

Yep, things have certainly changed a lot in this country. I just hope our future generations will grow to appreciate moments like this.

You went and visited your sister-in-law this last weekend...i knew that you had an ulterior motive to this whole thing since you hadn't spoken to her much recently...you needed a place to stay and you wanted to sever the relationship her and I had begun to have. Even if we move on to love others and marry others you and I will always have been meant to be together until the end of time. I was hoping that neither of us would have to go through this pain and anguish to realize the best thing may now be over and it might be too late to gain it back. Yes, I would still take you back...it's not even an issue. I know you so well and know your fears, hopes, dreams, insecurities, and was everyting that you have searched for your whole life.

Against your will you have lost two of the most important life forces in your life, your brother and your father, within a three year period. I can't even imagine such life changing events. However, the third strongest person in your life you have made the choice to walk away from...you have walked away from me and cut all ties without so much as a glance back...

A while ago the iTunes free weekly song was Jamey Johnson's "In Color". At first I just thought that it had a nice sound to it, so I figured I might as well download it. When I was down in Chester I went with Uncle Brad to the nursing home a few times. Being surrounded by so many people and also things that were old really made me think. Chester supposedly had about 800 people in the 1920s equaling the nearby town of Hubbell. Now Chester has 300 people remaining and Hubbell has 55. So just what happened to places and people? What was it like when the town I was in was thriving? Or the nice, old people I was talking to had been my age? Thinking about things like that put more meaning into "In Color"
