"G8 Leaders Feast on 8 courses After Discussing World Food Shortages"

When I read this headline, the first thing that popped to my mind was this: Luke's Gospel, Chapter 16, Verses 19-31.

I've copied the text from the New American version of the Bible, but it should read the same regardless of the version you have access to.  Please read the excerpt, then click on any part of it to be taken to the story about the great feast.

"There was a rich man  who dressed in purple garments and fine linen and dined sumptuously each day.

And lying at his door was a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who would gladly have eaten his fill of the scraps that fell from the rich man's table. Dogs even used to come and lick his sores.

When the poor man died, he was carried away by angels to the bosom of Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried, and from the netherworld, where he was in torment, he raised his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side.

And he cried out, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me. Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am suffering torment in these flames.'

Abraham replied, 'My child, remember that you received what was good during your lifetime while Lazarus likewise received what was bad; but now he is comforted here, whereas you are tormented.

Moreover, between us and you a great chasm is established to prevent anyone from crossing who might wish to go from our side to yours or from your side to ours.'

He said, 'Then I beg you, father, send him to my father's house, for I have five brothers, so that he may warn them, lest they too come to this place of torment.'

But Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.'

He said, 'Oh no, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent

Then Abraham said, 'If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead.'"

अमेरिका की स्थिति अब डांवाडोल होती जा रही है क्योंकि इराक और अफगानिस्तान उसका बहुत बड़ा सिरदर्द साबित होने वाले हैं। अमेरिका भारत से जैसी  अपेक्षा कर रहा है वह पूरी नहीं हो रहीं हैं क्योंकि यहां की आंतरिक स्थिति भी कम चुनौतीपूर्ण नहीं है। जार्जबुश का यह बयान किसी ऐसे ही तनाव  का  परिणाम प्रतीत  होती  है क्योंकि उनको अपने राष्ट्रपति  चुनाव से पहले यह भी पता नहीं था कि भारत है किस दिशा में। उनकी विदेशमंत्री कोंडला राइस भारत आती रहतीं है और फिर चली जातीं हैं। भारत की विविधताओं और विशेषताओं का उनको पता हो इस पर संदेह है। उनके बयान के बाद ही उसके समर्थन में जार्जबुश का यह कथन सामने आया है।

जार्जबुश के इस कथन में हमें इसमे कोई दोष नहीं देखना चाहिए क्योंकि वह एक अमीर राष्ट्र के प्रधान हैं। अमीरों की यह मनोवृत्ति होती है कि उनको गरीब का खाना, पीना और चैन से सोना  पसंद नहीं है-क्योंकि उनके नसीब से  यह चीजें चलीं जातीं हैं जब धन उनके पास आता है। मेरी नहीं तो कविवर रहीम के बात तो आप मानेंगे ही जो कह गये हैं कि अमीरों की पाचन शक्ति कम होती है। अब यह तो सब जानते हैं कि इस देह का सारा खेल भोजन की पाचन शक्ति पर निर्भर करता है। अगर वह नहीं है तो नींद अच्छी नहीं आयेगी और उसकी वजह से तनाव रहेगा।  अमेरिका के लोग भारतीय अध्यात्म इतने फिदा क्यों हैं? भारत के योग का प्रचार वहां क्यों बढ़ा है? क्योंकि अमेरिका में सुख-सुविधाओं के चलते शारीरिक परिश्रम का प्रचलन कम होता जा रहा है। हालत यह है के ढोंगी और पाखंडी बाबा भी वहां अपने चेले बनाकर अपना काम चला रहे हैंं।  मतलब यह कि भारतीयों के खाने पर यह की गयी टिप्पणी उनके ऐसे ही किसी तनाव का परिणाम लगती है जो इस समय उनके दिमाग में है।
इस देश में कई बार ऐसे भी दृश्य देखने को मिल जाते हैं कि सड़क पर लोग अपने ट्रकों और ट्रालियो के नीचे गर्मियों की दोपहर में मजदूर लोग खाना खाकर ऐसी नींद लेते हैं कि अमीरों को एसी में भी वह नसीब नहीं होती।

अमीरों को इस बात से सुख नहीं मिलता कि उनके पास संपत्ति, वैभव और प्रतिष्ठा है उनको यह दुःख सताता है कि उनके सामने रहने वाले गरीब उसके बिना कैसे जिंदा है? वह इतने आराम की नींद कैसे लेते है जबकि उनको इसके लिये गोलियां लेनी पड़ती है। हम जार्ज बुश का क्या कहें अपने देश के अमीर लोग भी क्या इससे अलग सोचते हैं और अब तो ऐसे राष्ट्राध्यक्ष का बयान आया है जिसको यहां का धनवान वर्ग बहुत मानता है और अब यहां गरीबों के खाने पर आक्षेप होंगे। अब यह भला कौन समझाए कि मेहनत करने से भूख अच्छी लगती है तो खाना भी आदमी खाएगा और खाएगा तो मेहनत भी करेगा। अच्छी भूख लगना और ईमानदारी से आय अर्जित करना  प्रत्येक व्यक्ति के भाग्य में नहीं होता। 

अमेरिका द्वारा सुझाये गये आर्थिक मार्ग पर यह देश चलता जा रहा है पर अभी भी किसानों की मेहनत पर ही इस देश की अर्थव्यवस्था जिंदा है। उद्योग की चमक जो शहरों में दिख रही है वह केवल कृत्रिम है यह सत्य तो कोई भी देख सकता है। अमीरों के पास राज है तो रोग भी हैं और उसके इलाज के लिये धन भी है पर गरीब के पास सिवाय अपनी देह के और क्या होता है और वह अगर उसे भी न बचाने तो जाये कहां। जिस औद्योगिक और तकनीकी विकास की बात कर रहे हैं उसमें गैर तकनीकी श्रमिकों और कर्मचारियों के लिये कोई जगह दिखती भी नहीं है और ऐसे संघर्ष में जो आदमी अगर रोटी कमा कर अपना चला रहा है उसके पास इतना समय भी नहीं होता कि अपने मन का दर्द किसी को सुना सके-वह तो उसके पसीने की बूंदों के साथ बाहर निकल जाता है। ऐसे में कई अमीर भी आक्षेप करते हैं कि गरीब अधिक खाते हैं इसलिये गरीब हैं ऐसे में अगर बुश साहब ने भी यह कह दिया तो उस पर अधिक परेशान होने की जरूरत नहीं है।

But Prince has lawyers, and those lawyers have Google. (Hello.) 

Anyway. Turns out that Ricky P was a multi-instrumentalist funk magnet, as his solo album 'Rich Man' then made clear. Which, yes, I will have to dig up one of these days. Ouch. It's good. Or rather, 'good in parts, specifically when the snare drums are big' (another Minneapolis tradition.)

This is a hilarious Ricky P production for a Ben Sidran album. You'd think it an undistinguished jazz LP, not Sidran's best, and then at the end of Side One there's this... future funk diatribe against critics. Boom. And also OUCH. If anyone needs a superior / larger rip, drop me a line.

Jack decided to go skiing with his buddy, Bob. So they loaded up Jack's minivan and headed north. After driving for a few hours, they got caught in a terrible blizzard. So they pulled into a nearby farm and asked the attractive lady who answered the door if they could spend the night.

'I realize it's terrible weather out there and I have this huge house all to myself, but I'm recently widowed,' she explained. 'I'm afraid the neighbors will talk if I let you stay in my house.'

'Don't worry,' Jack said. 'We'll be happy to sleep in the barn. And if the weather breaks, we'll be gone at first light.' The lady agreed, and the two men found their way to the barn and settled in for the
night. Come morning, the weather had cleared, and they got on their way They enjoyed a great weekend of skiing.

But about nine months later, Jack got an unexpected letter from an attorney. It took him a few minutes to figure it out, but he finally determined that it was from the attorney of that attractive widow he had met on the ski weekend.

He dropped in on his friend Bob and asked, 'Bob, do you
remember that good-looking widow from the farm we stayed at on our ski holiday up north about! 9 months ago?'

'Yes, I do.' Said Bob.

'Did you, er, happen to getup in the middle of the night, go up to the house and pay her a visit?'

'Well, um, yes!,' Bob said, a little embarrassed about being found out, 'I have to admit that I did.'
'And did you happen to give her my name instead of telling her your name?'

Bob's face turned beet red and he said,
'Yeah, look, I'm sorry, buddy. I'm afraid I did.' 'Why do you ask?'

'She just died and left me everything.'

(Oh my God I am a rich man without doing anything, yahoooooo......!)

(And you thought the ending would be different, didn't you?.. you know you smiled. :) ..now keep that smile for the rest of the day!)

This guy was pretty damn cool! It's no wonder he was a well respected man, and that he had great influence in the world.

It also was great to see he was a real person, went through real challenges, and made mistakes just like anybody does.

He figured out a lot of basic life principals at a very young age that are just powerful.

I would encourage anyone to read it.

I'm putting it in my library of reccomended books, here.

It's also fascinating to realize a few things no one really talks about.

That he got rich at a relatively young age, and how he did it.

And that part of the reason his influence was so great was that he to a large extent CONTROLLED the PRESS!!!!

How come no one talks about this and it's power?

There were hundreds of other men who were just a brilliant, just as honest, with just as good character.

He was well known and trusted because of how many people he could reach AND because he backed up what he wrote with his personal integrity which was proven on a regular basis by his behavior.

The other thing that is really great to have confirmed to me is how wrong the impressions were that were given in school (American STERILIZED history classes) about the Revolution.

This was a VERY well established government they were fighting against. It wasn't just some fly by night people who were like, "Hey, now we're in our own place and we just want to do our own thing."

They were working in the system of laws in place to get acknowledged for REAL wrongs done to them by people in the system and which no one would take care of properly.

Franklin himself was hugely involved in and a supporter of working throught the system to find resolution.

I only wish we could have his own words on what changed his mind exactly.

I'm definatly looking forward to finding and reading other documents he wrote!

If you are into self development, there are a lot of great books out there, but it will be amazing to see from this book how some of the principles that make life good ABSOLUTELY transcend time and ALWAYS work.

It is important for a rich man to have as many sons as possible in order spread his genes into a new generation. That is his way of genetically keeping himself alive. He does this best by impregnating as many expensive hookers as possible. He rarely sees his offspring because most rich men find them to be boring.  Each hooker receives a substantial amount of money to bear and rear them in secret. The combination of a beautiful mother and intelligent father gives them a tremendous genetically powered advantage. They are often intelligent and attractive.

 The expensive hooker is psychologically and physically by far the highest form of a woman. That is the reason why she is so expensive. Her customers come from the cream of society and they expect her to not only be good in bed but also to have an upbeat and interesting personality. The ordinary woman could never qualify to take her place. It is true that the hooker is seldom in touch with her family, but what good is a family when her tastes are basically material and sexual. You might call her cosmopolitan because she loves the culture of city life. Her walk-in closet is full of the most expensive designer clothes and she has invested heavily in mutual funds. That is for the rainy day when she loses her looks. Everywhere she goes men smile at her and ask her for a date. But if she senses that they won’t meet her bedroom fee she quickly gets rid of them. That is the profile of the high priced hooker.

 The rich man enjoys the luxury of a large home with enough rooms to entertain his guests. But all his parties must have a beautiful and personable hostess and that is the main reason mister rich man marries his favorite hooker. Not only does she entertain his friends verbally but she will accommodate them sexually. The parties could easily be called a sex orgy and all the guests will have a great time. This is life in the fast lane and it is a wonderful and beautiful road.

 It is true that power corrupts but I don’t believe that corruption is the right word to use. The rich man is free to lead almost any lifestyle he chooses. Ordinary people are confined to the watchful eyes of their neighbors and employers. But if they are let out of their cage with a sudden influx of money they might make the rich man seem puritanical. What the rich man and the hooker have most in common is that they both don’t have the baggage of family life to carry. It is true that the rich man has many offspring scattered all over the world but he rarely sees them. He just pays the bills when asked. The hooker has no taste for ordinary family life but if the price is high enough she might consider becoming a mother. It is no wonder that the rich man and the hooker have much in common. They both have a sense of enlightened self interest.

The perfect world would consist of rich men and beautiful hookers. In that perfect world it would seem that everybody would be sexually and financially satisfied. But unfortunately we are living in an imperfect world where there are many poor men and also homely women. Most of us have to sit by and watch the rich men and beautiful hookers have all the fun. But the Law of Karma says that if you are suffering in this world you will be rewarded in the next. In the future world you will be a rich man with enough beautiful hookers to keep you busy for an eternity. I am so anxious to get there that I am going to cancel my monthly doctor’s appointment and pray to get there quickly.

You would think that the end of the Cold War would usher in the beginning of peace and prosperity for the vast majority of the people in this land once ruled, according to their ideological enemies, by godless tyrants. Well, think again because it did not. And guess what, they now have 60 billionaires when they did not even have a single millionaire fifteen years ago. And in a land where the average pension is US$120 a month, a quarter of the economy is owned by 36 men.

Perestroika, the capitalist alternative, as it turns out, is not really a path to paradise as claimed. And before I get corrected and lectured lengthily, let me state that the revisionism really started since Khrushchev took power and Soviet social imperialism heralded its eventual fall. But that would require a different posting.

Well, what did they say, be careful of what you wish for because you might get it.

Nothing could be farther from this than the soviet experience.
