It’s not surprise that Europeans like to dance, listen to “North American Scum” by

It's not surprise that Europeans like to dance, listen to "North American Scum" by LCD soundsystem, or watch 24 Hour Party People, or simply grab an issue of Mixmag, and you'll find that people in Europe are dancing like crazy, while a lot of American music is either jock rock arena filler or mopey slow jams. Different cultures I guess.

To be fair, acts like Chromeo, Justice and Daft Punk are getting a lot of exposure at summer music festivals. However, Europe still kicks the North American continent in the ass when it comes to places to dance. Italy is bringing us something a little different than the all night raves that you are used to.

Pitchfork tells us that Dissonanze has a weird line up for those who dance a little more... angular. I'm down with that for sure, check out some of the artists.

YACHT - (Portland one man party riot sings about morality while his laptop makes noise)
Caribou - (Drenched in reverb, Caribou A.k.a Dan Snaith's new album Andorra makes you dream about strange Canadian winters)
Carl Craig - (Detroit Techno God among men)
Prefuse 73 - (Another Techno, but a little weirder)

Those are some pretty awesome names right there, I'm not going to be able to make it to Italy, but that's to the promoters for breaking some new ground, not like that corporate douche Richard Branson and his garbage Vfest Calgary. Bringing acts like The Tragically Hip and Stone Temple Pilots isn't really ground breaking Branson. It's actually super obvious and boring, have either of them released a new album in the past year or two? I'm not sure because I really don't care about Alt rock, and I'm not sure why any one does anymore.

Dissonanze is actually doing something new. Sampling a little from Ry Cooder's Buena Vista Social Club, Madlib and J. Rocc are teaming up with Brazilian superstars of days gone by to create something with some soul.

Brasilintime is the story of magic – ‘Batucada com discos’. In other words: the best and bravest minds in contemporary hip hop (Madlib, J. Rocc) hooking up with the old greats of Brazilian music (Ivan Mamao Conti is the column of Azymuth, Joao Comanche Parahyba of the trio Mocoto). Also amongst them, DJ Nuts - awesome carioca turntablist. A multi-generational dialogue, inspiring attitudes, a cross-over of alphabets: a unique kicking live set! As unique and kicking will be the special guest for Dissonanze’s set: one of the fathers of Afrobeat, Tony Allen.

Does that not sound a lot more interesting than Richard Branson's junkie alt rock revival? Yes, it really does.

As I was surfing around the net, looking for something to write about I came across an article about Virgin's Richard Branson unveiling a commercial spaceship. Today Branson unveiled a model of a spaceship that is apart of Virgin Galactic, which sole purpose is to take paying customers to the moon on a regular basis. So far there are about 200 people who have already signed up for the first flight, putting down a deposit of $30 million, costing people about $200,000 per person. Celebrities apart of the first flight includes Stephan Hawking.

My question to all the bloggers out there is, if you ever had the money to purchase a seat on this spaceship would you do something like this? Do we really need to push ourselves or worry about a space race when there are more important issues such as poverty or global warming to deal with? Is it me, or is Richard Branson love the attention of the media or is he just adventurous in life?
